Fort Dragonia -- Serge's Dream

when you get off the elevator, go to the right. you'll enter a room that looks like a huge maze. go up onto the platform, defeat the cyborg, continue on, and you'll end up outside.

go to the left, and go up the stairs. keep following the path, + do not go up on the platform with the cyborg yet. at the end of the path you are on is a door. go through it, + deactivate the crystal (X twice). turn around, + head back to the 1rst platform, defeat the cyborg, step on the teleporter, + press X twice. for the next couple of minutes, you're only in control to walk to the double doors. there, serge has a vision of kid on the floor, + him with a bloody dagger in his hand.


Arni Village

serge wakes up. (that was a dream?!?!?!) after that, double-X on the bed, + you recieve 200g!!! to the question rest now, answer "nah! not yet" to continue on. check the pile of boxes near the door on the left side of the room, + recieve a tablet. go out of the room, + speak with marge, serge's mother. she tells you that you're late in meeting leena. go outside, + enter the building right across from yours. talk to the girl swaying in front of the counter (no matter how boring she is, this is kinda important for later... sort of). talk to the barrel four times, + you get an uplift element. enter the room in the back, + notice where the dog (bubba dingo) is scratching under the bed. when he moves, check this spot to recieve the heckran bone. open the trunk on the table to recieve an ivory helmet. leave the restaurant, + talk to the fisherman with the huge fish. if you agree with him, he gives you a komodo dragon scale. go back towards the restaurant. Outside there's a kid just standing around. talk to him, then give him the komodo scale for free. he gives you an uplift in return. he also tells you how to recruit poshul. go back to where the fisherman was, and continue through the archway. check the bucket to recieve an aquabeam element, and enter the building. the last man in line will explain how records of fate work, + will also yell at you to get to the back of the line. from the line, go to the left, + check the small frame. you'll recieve a cure element. leave the building, and talk to the old guy surrounded by people in the courtyard (this is Radius, Arni's village chief). Talk to him only if you want pointers on battle techniques and element usage (hint: what he says probably won't make much sense to you right now... it didn't the 1rst time i talked to him... but if you're the type who likes explanations, rather than finding things out on your own, talk to him). he'll kick your ass this time around, but don't get discouraged... you're not *supposed* to win, which is why his one hit near the end takes off 70-something HP. you can now recruit a character: Poshul, that big pink dog-thing running around in the background. just go up to her, double-X, + when she's done talkin, press square, choose "heckran bone," +, after much ado about nothing, she'll join your party (altho i never recruit her at this point, because the second time around i recruited her at the beginning, + all the battles i'd done solo the 1rst time around went sooo much slower...). plus, you can recruit poshul later... but we'll get to that when we get to it. go back to the town square, and talk to the lady w/ the cart. you can buy some elements now, especially since you got those xtra 200g earlier. buy a fireball element, and maybe another aquabeam. check the cart itself for a shellfish frame. enter the last house on your left. talk to the cat, + leena's grandmother tells you something about yourself you didn't know. Plus, she mentions that Leena is on the pier babysitting. check the bucket on the other side of the room to find a photonray element. go to the pier already! geeze, haven't you made your so-called girlfriend wait enough??? (the pier's all the way in the back, btw...) after being bitchy for a bit, leena tells you to go to lizard rock to get her some komodo dragon scales for her necklace (agree with her, you dolt... after all, she *is* your "girlfriend"... (lucky you))... +, no, you cheap-ass, she won't accept that freebie you got earlier, if you still have it. head back into the village, and enter the house on what is *now* your right. talk to the guy sitting down, + he'll give you some tips on how to catch those dang komodos (pay attention... one of those things gave me a pretty hard time when i didn't know what i was doing...). proceed across the little bridge-thing, + downstairs. talk to the fisherman, who gives you his life story (hooray...), + another key item (hooray!!!). You will need this shark tooth later to recruit a character. Now you're ready to leave the village.


Cape Howl

you don't really have to go here, but there's two chests to open!!! fight the monsters, + get a heal element in the first chest, and a bone in the second one. Stand there and laugh at the silly monster that got itself stranded on the platform, and put it out of it's misery. Then, head out onto the cape itself, walk over to the large rock, + double-X it. get closer, and do it again. Serge writes "serge and leena forever." wow, she's got you whupped, doesn't she??? what you need to do now is go kick some monster ass at lizard rock to redeem yourself. leave cape howl after killing the two monsters again (if you must).


Lizard Rock

first things first... did you allocate your elements yet??? (press triangle, choose elements, allocate, + put elements in the slots you want them in... (tip: fireball, aquabeam, photonbeam works well...). if you already recruited Poshul, you'll probably either have to give her crappy, leftover elements, or wait until you've killed some monsters and get some $$$, so you can go back to arni, buy more elements, + *then* finish clearing off lizard rock. neway... push the rock out of the way. kill the beach bum in front of the chest, and get the fireball out of there. you got three ways you can go now. take the middle road, scare the komodo pup, and push the rock near the cave over the entrance. go around to the top path, scare the komodo pup into the cave (he's trapped!), + kill it. you'll recieve a komodo scale. go down the lowest path, + kill the beach bum there (if you want). you *can* just by-pass him, cuz all he does is watch you go by. the komodo dragon pup runs off into the water, but never fear: see that beach bum walkin on a log behind you??? jump on the log, wait for it to come to you, and defeat it. wander up the log, + there's another beach bum waiting for you on the rock ledge. defeat this one, too, + walk to the end of the rock ledge. the komodo pup is back, + doesn't notice you're there. walk to the end of the ledge, until serge is facing forwards (if that screen pops up, get it out of there), then wait until right before the komodo pup passes under you, + hit X. if you miss, don't worry, you can always try again. fight it, and recieve another scale. wander over to your left, + fight the beach bum there. push the rock just right, + it'll fall into the water, freeing the chest there with a silver loupe in it. (to use these items, hit triangle, equip., + go from there). now on to lizard rock south: follow the path at the top left of the screen. near the bridge is a stone step. go down it, fight the beach bum, and get the tablet out of the chest. go back up the steps. now go around that lake, and head over to where you see a puddle of water and a medium-sized hole. double-X the hole, and you're in the lake!!! open the chest on the island, and you get a bone. next, head towards the opening in the back... warning, a beach bum attacks you from under the water. fight it off, + go into the cave, and to the left. open the chest, + recieve an ivory helmet. go back through the cave, and double-X the part of the left wall that's the farthest down, to get back out. now, prepare for a lot of running!!! yeah... chase that komodo pup down (hint: hit these two with only physical attacks). why, you ask??? oh, look!!! AAAHHH!!! MAMA KOMODO!!!

(not as big as she looked at first, is she???). she's not that hard to beat, esp. if you have elements (hey, i beat her with only physical attacks the 1rst time around...).

now, head out the path at the top left of the screen...


Opassa Beach

walk onto the beach til your halfway to the water, double-X, and leena speaks! (cute trick) you automatically hand over the scales. she starts reminiscing about the past... if you've started getting into the habit of not listening to people (like i sometimes do) + just pressing the x button as soon as that green leaf appears at the bottom of the screen, stop it now, cuz u'll miss somethin important sooner or later. if i haven't mentioned them here, you don't need to talk to them, but you can. sometimes they have some *ahem* interesting things to say ("how i'd love to see them jiggle..."). (well, i'll leave you at that)... ^~_~^ when she asks, tell her that you remember (just to be nice), + that "we'll never forget this day!" (this, blieve it or not, is actually kinda important for later) then, you hear a voice in the distance... + you get a flashback (remember what leena's grandma said about a panther demon???). + then you faint (wussy).


Opassa Beach -- Another World

you are woken up by a fisherman, who tells you he thought you were a dead body, + that you shouldn't be playing out there. when serge inquired about leena, she's apparently back in the village babysitting. hmph! nice of her to just leave you lying there, huh??? follow the fisherman out.


Lizard Rock -- Another World

what??? what's this??? a sign at the entrance to opassa beach, saying "danger!!! opassa beach keep out!!!"??? (hmmm... people must have been very busy while you were asleep...) woah! (crashed into an opah fish, didn't you? (dumbass...)) well, fighting them all is probably easier than pacing yourself just right so as to not have to fight any of them (i wouldn't know, i always fight them all. the 1rst time around, i thought it was pretty funny how the stupid things just crashed into me so i could kill them) ^~_~^ jump through the hole again, + grab the feather from inside the chest (wow... *snicker*). get out of there by the bottom-left path (if you're like me, + like to fight everything out there, + explore everything). (+, no, there's nothin n that back cave anymore) if you just want out of this turned-crazy place, hit power on the console (jk... just take the top path). you take the bottom path, a kamakazi komodo jumps on you from the ledge (don't forget the moveable chest behind that opah fish at the bottom containing a bone). bump into the other komodo, + get the ivory helmet from inside the chest. now get out of there, and go find leena to demand an explanation for just leaving you there.


Arni Village -- Another World

now you have $$$ to buy more elements from the cart-lady. (she greets you kinda funny, doesn't she???) check your house, + your cat's been replaced by a bubba dingo. go into your room. wow, kinda dark, huh??? check behind the boxes for a magmabomb element. the komodo dragon will only give you an attitude if you talk to it, + ask you if you want to rest (don't). as you leave your house, some guy comes in and berates you for "playing" in his house. When serge asks about his mother, the guy responds that he's lived in that house for 5years, and that the name marge doesn't ring a bell. wander across to the restaurant, and it's now a cafe! hmmm... talk to the poems girl again (like i said, it's important... 2 some xtent). you don't have to actually pay attention to what she's saying, just do it. talk to the jar four times and get an icelance element. no, the back room is not empty, it just looks that way... see that white string??? just stand in front of the "wall" + double-X it for awhile, and the "wall" becomes a pulled-back curtain. open the chest, and recieve a tablet. there's another photonray in that bucket near poshul's house (inside leena's grandmother's house). run and talk to leena on the pier... "have we met before... are you from termina?" yeah. what does she have, amnesia??? she tells you you look like the boy that used to live next to her and that she used to have a crush on. one catch, though: he died ten years ago, when he was seven. "what was his name?" you may ask. wait, what??? "I'm Serge!!!" woah. prepare to get bitched at. after she calms down, she tells you to visit the boy's grave up on cape howl, cause no one's been up there in years. "good-bye... stranger" ouch. so... on to cape howl!!!


Cape Howl -- Another World

huh, sun's settin... oh well, push onwards. two chests again. the one on the ground contains an electrojolt element, and the small one's a bone. head onto the cape, and... what???

nor can anyone give anything to him
what came from the seas, has returned to the sea."


(if you haven't figured it out yet (hell-ooo??? don't you read the titles to these sections???) yes, you've somehow ended up in another world) go on, shake your head no in disbelief. "so you must be serge... the ghost of the boy who died 10 years ago" turn around and find that the way off Cape Howl is blocked by 3 dragoons (shaker brothers solt and peppor, and dragoon deva karsh). solt and peppor are a bit unsure of what they're doing, but karsh silences their doubts "well, we found him here where 'he' said we would..." karsh tells you he has orders to bring you in. "hold yer sea horses!" ack! it's that girl from your dream!!! well, she's trying to help you here, so don't worry your pretty little head about it too much. a battle insues, and serge and "girl" (should) emerge victorious, what with the shaker brothers bumbling elements and all that... yay, your second boss battle.

afterwards, kid offers to join you. here's where you have a pretty important choice to make. what you decide here determines what characters you can recruit later... (plus, kid is insistant, so, don't worry, you can always recruit her later) let her join, and the scene shifts to arni village, where you have just spent the night. she gives you the teleporter. refuse her now (like i said, she's insistant), + you end up in arni village the next morning anyway.


Arni Village -- Another World

leena and poshul walk in, and automatically join your party (no heckran bone needed). (of course, these two aren't great fighters, but whatever...) talk to the guy in the hammock again, just to piss him off. go to the house next to the restaurant, and go into the basement. talk to the estranged fisherman, and inspect the doll. then give him the shark tooth. he praises you for catching it, but gets all worked up when you say that it was another *him* who caught it, the him who became a fisherman. (noticing the pattern of everyone saying something about things that happened 10 years ago yet???) fine, okae, leave him be, and start to walk out the door. mojo comes to life, and gives the fisherman life-affirming advice. Mojo jooined-om yoour party! (i suggest replacing poshul at this point, if you already have 3 characters recruited). go through the archway, and in the bucket is a turnred element. inside, behind the frame is a tablet. your next destination is the port town of termina, pride of the acacia dragoons. to get there, though, you have to pass through fossil valley...


Fossil Valley -- Another World

Acacia dragoons let you through, but tell you to stick to the low path. choose what you will. as soon as you pass them, a mama dingo runs at you. defeating them shouldn't be too hard. follow the path. if you don't want to go up, you don't have to. if you do, answer the guard that you are the exorcists. continue up, and do the same with the acacia sergeant. he'll let you by. just approach the large dragon head, and a purple thing (i.e., the heavy skull) jumps out and talks to you. agree to take him along, cuz, after a looong and aaardous jouuurney, you can recruit this guy (btw, you have to find all of skelly's parts first). head over to the left, and up the path to the purple flowers growing there (p.d.: avoid those damn tree- lookin thingies, they're annoying, cuz they blend in, + that makes for unexpected fights, plus occasionally you have to fight a dodo, as well as the drongos (dodos are explained in a minute). pick the flower, make your way back, + talk to the acacia private standing all by his lonesome. then head down the bones just to spite him. raid the dodo nest (you recieved a big egg (don't you *dare* make an omelet out of that!!!), + get out of there, quick!!! (trust me, a dodo, n the state *you're* in right now??? not a good idea... plus, the stupid thing doesn't even qualify as a boss battle) climb back down the rope ladder, + head to your left. uh oh, it's the bumbling shaker brothers, + they want a rematch!!! (big deal... boss battle or not, it's still easy)

kick their butts, + they flee in terror. you now have your lv.3 tech skills for each character (i.e., serge: dashandslash, leena: maidenhand, poshul: k-9 ball, mojo: voodoo dance, kid: pilfer), + now you can leave as well.


The Port Town of Termina -- Another World

ahhh... smell that salty fresh air, and feel that festive atmosphere... it's time for the Viper Festival!!! you have no choice but to witness the scene between acacia dragoon private glenn and the flower lady. talk to her to find out more about glenn. if you haven't saved your game yet, you can do so now (you can save your game on the world map or at any record of fate (except the one in arni village, b/c it's always busy) by pressing triangle, save, save, + choose your memory card, etc.... (p.d., the 1rst door you see is an inn where you can rest and/or save your game)). head up the stairs, + kid stops you, if she's not already in your party. if so, she won't join you right now, whether leena's in your party or not. oh well. head all the way up the stairs, and listen to the old geezer polishing General Viper's statue. talk to him, and he'll be all mean, but you're gonna have to put up with him. after he's done, kid appears again, if you don't have her already there, + says that you have to break into viper manor. agree... i mean, come on, what else are you gonna do??? kid joined yer party! she also gives you the teleporter (tip: put her in your immediate party). now your main task is to find someone that'll help you break into viper manor. whomever you choose, you still have two boss battles coming up... i always choose guile, just b/c i'm stupid + it makes more sense. (or maybe i just like having large boulders tossed at my head... or mayb at one point i knew the viper manor bluffs like the back of my own hand???) whatever... if this is your first time through the game, don't choose guile... you could die on the bluffs even without being attacked by something!!! well, guile's in the bar, so if you're suicidal, you can find him there. he's the guy drinkin by himself in the corner (p.d.: his grid sux, btw). if you wanna storm the front gates, you can recruite pierre (also not recommended, cuz one of your party members gets frickin decked asap...), you can find him in zappa's back room. and if you wanna have to do a whole sidequest type thing, then go for nikki. damn. aight, here's how to recruit these guys (+ don't worry, you can come back and explore all the other areas later, + in each of these next paiges'll b what other goodies you can get in termina...): guile, pierre, + nikki.
