Viper Manor (nightfall) -- Another World

there are random turn elements scattered over the manor grounds. if you think you actually need them for the battles to come, you're welcome to find them. if you infiltrated viper manor by going up the bluffs, go in through that little door near where you are. keep goin up and down that hallway-type thing pressing x, and you'll find one of the turn elements (turnblue). dodge the large spotlight, and follow the path all the way to the left and off the screen (btw, if you still haven't figured out how to run in this game, not only will it take you about 100hrs. to finish, but ur screwed... press the o-button to run). there might be some acacia privates to fight along the way if you bump into any of them... now you're in the front courtyard (if you came in up the well or through the front gates, you're already here). go all the way to your left to get the turnyellow in the chest behind the gate. you'll probably have to fight some more dragoons. follow the path back to the front doorway. you have to fight a lot of acacia dragoons before they let you anywhere near the front door. beat them, and find out it's locked. (yes, i tell you to do these stupid things for a reason, not *just* to make you suffer... you have to find out the door's locked before you can go lookin for a key, donCHA???). go to the back courtyard, dodging the big searchlight. make your way over to the building at the top right of your screen.
these are the dragon stables (look a lot like puny velociraptors, don't they???). save your game if you want. head towards the back, and talk to the stable guy. say you're the new helpers, and feed the dragons. he'll give you something nice, he says. okae fine. start with 10 times, just to get the feel for it. you *can* try for more right after you're done, just talk to the guy again. the prize is better for the more times you feed them. (10=kneepad, 20=bronze helmet... you can only get one prize for each time, so don't try the same number of times over and over, cuz you won't get anything). haha, don't think you can do 100X's, silly... that comes laaater... after you feed the dragons, he tells you the key's in the cupboard. get it, and make your way back to the front entrance.
inside, head towards the viper statue in the back. x the front of it, and enter some random combo. no matter what you put in, it'll still be wrong, and you'll end up in a cage. fight the guards, and put on their clothes. go down the stairs, and talk twice to the guy staring at the wall. he tells you that he has the parlor key, and that he has to find it. you can come back for this later in the game. the prison's locked, too, so don't bother with that. the chest in the corner is actually a boxer brother. skrew my original theory... just attack the big boxer!!! okae, now leave the basement.
what doors??? (yeah, i know how you feel... it's those rounded metal things at the sides of the room. trust me, they'r doorways, just walk around them and hit x until they open). try the one on the right first. talk to the guys in front of the door, and don't give them an answer. trust me, don't choose anything: the password is silence. they let you into the treasure room. no, you can't get that gold in the left corner, blieve me, i'v tried... kid gets all happy, until she figures out that the frozen flame's not there. get the stuff in the back (bronze vest, bronze sword, and hero's shield), and equip them immediately (i.e., bronze vest on kid, + bronze sword and hero's shield on pierre (if he's in your party)). there's a chest in the corner (it's a boxer bro). now, get on the riser, and x the shiny thingy hanging on the wall. no matter what you choose, you're screwed (yup, another trap) ... (but you get the silver pendant, tho) ^~_*^ you end up in a cage in luccia's lab. the mad scientist lets you out, only to test her neo-n-bulbs on you. defeat these, and you gain another star! after that, she leaves you alone. remember the thingy in the corner she told to shut up? go talk to it twice, and set it free (you can recruit him later). talk to luccia again, and she tells you not to let him go (whoops). when you're leaving, she stops you, and says that she will help you whenever you need it (n other words, you can recruit her later). don't bother with the room next to her lab w/ the eyeball in the door, it's full of traps, and you can always come back later to fight those evil evil statues and get the goodies. go back to the left (not up the stairs), and bust up the roborg (talk to it twice). continue to the left, re-enter the room with the cages, and go through the other door. the first door's the mess hall. oh look, it's glenn again. talk to them to overhear a conversation about the first trap. glenn leaves, and talk to the dragoon he was talking to for more info. go towards the back, and there's a chest with a dragoon's honor. go to the left and into the kitchen. talk to the dishwasher (hi norris!) (you can recruit both him and the cook (who ignores you for now) later. find a turngreen in the cupboard. exit the kitchen, and the last door on the left in the hallway is the living quarters. go find glenn in the back of the first room (yes, you can recruit him later, as well...), and x the wall where he was to find out the code for the trap door upstairs. (remember to save your game after this, cuz every time you play the game, the code changes, so if you get killed, you're gonna have to talk to all these people again... *sigh*) in the next room, there's a revive in the trunk (important for later battles!!! (but not necessarily for these next ones...)). leave the room. if you're sick of those damn willowisps dropping down on you from above by now, here's a tip: don't walk on the carpet. walk along the sides of the hallway. sure, they can still get you when you try to open doors, but it'll be less of them falling on you this way (lucky you... i hit every single one of them the first time i played...).
upstairs, the first door's harle's room, apparently. if you try talking to her, she tells you to shut up ("se taire...."). there are two chests in the back: the big one's a turnblack, and the other 1's the boxer boys again. the room next to harle's is the famous parlor. it's locked, obviously. continue down the hallway, beat the roborg, open the gate thing, and go across into the other hallway. the door without the huge phreaky eyeball is dragoon deva karsh's room. talk to him for info. if you bug him enough (i.e., try to open the chest 20X's), you get a dragoon gauntlet. the room next to karsh's is zoah's. you don't really need to go in here, but if you must, then time it just right so that you open the door when the eyeball closes, if not, you get to fight a phun phun portalgheist (yucky). these things are not only tough to beat, but they throw random enemies at you (i.e., komodo pups, bulbs, etc.). if you get stuck fighting one of these, kill off the portalgheist first, then target the other enemies (hint: pelt the damn thing with green elements). the good news is, after you beat it, there's no longer a huge eyeball in the door. you can talk to zoah for more info, but no matter how many times you try and open the chest, you won't be able to (until *much* much further along in the game). alright, time to head back and try that code on the viper statue (hope you wrote it down, or else you'll have to go back downstairs to the wall again...). enter the code, and the doors will open. head up the stairs.
no matter how many times you try to fight that dumb cybot in the corner, it's frickin broken, therefore, it won't budge. instead, go to your left. open the door at the end of the walkway, and you end up in the library. go up the staircase, and marcy talks to you. if nikki's in your party, you're in for a little surprise. the prophet of time hears you, and asks marcy to lower the ladder (take note of where the switch is, and of the trunk up where the prophet of time was). the phrophet explains a bunch of stuff to you, while marcy annoys you. after the conversation, she wants to kill you, esp. if nikki's in the party, cause he's makin her mad. kid tells her to shut up, and the prophet of time reveals yet another wacky surprise: marcy's the third dragoon deva. ("what?! this little brat??")

marcy: innate blue, tech: cat'scradle, elements: iceblast, cureplus

yes, that little brat, who's a hell of a fight, who keeps freezing your party members, and who keeps casting cureplus on herself (but she's not impossible...). use kid as soon as the battle starts, since she's red and marcy's blue (therefore she'll hurt marcy the most, but will be weakest against marcy's attacks, which is why you should power her up first, and use up her elements before she gets taken down by marcy). then, hit her hard and hit her fast. don't let the field effect (that oval thingy at the top of the screen) turn all blue, or marcy's attacks'll be hell. if you use cure, hurry up and attack with a different- color element right after that. (here, too, i didn't cure myself... i didn't start doing that until about half the game was over, silly me...). you could also allocate some medicine consumables, but why bother, when you can just concentrate on attacking marcy while waiting for whomever was frozen to thaw out.

once this battle's over, marcy runs away, and the prophet of time is surprised. he also tells you what to do next. now, go get that turnwhite in the chest up there, and get out of the library
back in the main hallway, harle makes a brief appearance, where she hits on serge, insults kid, begs serge not to go on, and tells him to dream of her... anyway... go to the pillar on the left that the prophet told you about. trust me, the switch is there, just walk around real close to the thingy, pressing x 50million X's, until the platform lowers itself. the guards'll make a really big leap (haha), + try + stop you (ha haaa! i have beat marcy, you are nothing to me!). get onto the platform, and there's a switch on the armrest. the platform rises, and you enter into another hallway with two doors, and portalgheists guarding both of them. now, go back inside, and save your game at the record of fate. don't bother with the door closest to the record of fate, but open the door directly in front of the stairs. nope, the thing on the desk *isn't* the frozen flame, as kid soon reveals. oh, look, general viper comes at her summoning... and lynx!!! get ready for another boss battle...
i don't care what the prophet of time said... *every* *single* *time* i'v played this game, i've found marcy harder to beat than lynx (but the subsequent times from the 1rst they were *both* easy as hell...). well, if you really wanna know how turn elements work, here's what you do (altho i'v never used them myself (never needed to): have serge hit lynx with a white elem., cuz he's black innate + serge's white innate... then, have some1 cast turnblue, + kid hits him with a red, then turnwhite (if you have guile... then you can hit him with his lv.3 tech wandaln), then turn green, hit w/ yellow, etc., etc., etc.... until he's dead.
*this* is *my* way of beatin lynx:

Lynx: innate black, elements: hellsoul, imbecile

power up to the highest you can, and hit him w/ the most powerful elements you have, randomly. *never* under *ne* circumstance let the field effect turn completely black!!! b-n random is ur best bet. he'll cast antiwhite on whoever uses a white element on him, so just use serge's dashandslash a.s.a.p.... also, if you take too long to beat him, he starts casting hellsoul, which kills your party members (okae, mayb it would've been a good idea to allocate that revive, huh)...

after he's "dead", it turns out it wasn't him, after all... owie, headache, bad orb on table... wow, looks like there's no way out, huh? oh look, a hostage. riddel comes in, and kid takes her hostage. you end up on the balcony... whoops. Lynx attmpts to kill Riddel, and Kid pushes her out of the way, taking the blow. she falls off the balcony, and Lynx approaches you. you and your other party member end up jumpin off the balcony after Kid. Korcha is magically there, whether he helped get you there or not.

Guldove -- Another World

wake up, and macha, korcha's mother, tells you your friends are waiting outside for you. (like to sleep in, donCHA?) a long dialogue follows, in which kid faints, doc tells you that she's been poisoned, and that the only known remedy is hydra humour... plus, in Another World, there are no more hydras left on el nido... uh oh... wait, you're not *from* this other world, are you??? yes, there *is* a hydra in serge's world... the question is, will you do it? kid gives you her astral amulet, which allows you to travel between worlds. (note: you don't *have* to save kid... she'll be fine). What you choose to do here will determine who you can recruit later:
  • save kid
    • korcha
    • razzly
    • mel
  • don't save kid
    • macha
    • glenn
    • doc

if you choose not to save kid, korcha gets mad, takes away the astral amulet, and refuses to help you. talk to macha (korcha's mother), and she reprimands him. She also decides to help you out and ferry you back to termina.
In Guldove there are a couple of things that you can recieve. in front of doc's house, there's a girl standing around holding something. Talk to her, and say you will trade something. Then exit the menu (you don't have enough stuff to trade with yet). She'll ask you to do something. Say yes, and she'll give you skelly's pelvic bone. Go to your left, and there's a smith in the booth. Upgrade your weapons if you need to (guile can get a free brass rod back in termina, so don't waste your $$$ on that... hey, more important, upgrade your armor). Now head across the ramp. In the bar you'll overhear a conversation between doc and orlah the barmaid. Now, head up the ladder. In the tent is another element shop with a bigger variety. To the right is the residential tower. behind the room in this level is a secret room. walk around behind this room pressing x until you get inside. There's a trunk with a feathery dress in there. to the left of the element shop is the dragon shrine. the dragon maiden and her successor might have something interesting to say. Then show Direa the shrine maiden the astral amulet. go back into the bar and talk to the dwarf (*grrr*) prancing around in the corner. After awhile, he gives you the green tinkler (which you can use on the plants blocking paths in the hydra marshes). when you're ready to leave, talk to korcha or macha and they'll take you back to termina.

Termina -- Another World

Go to the shrines, observe the ritual, and follow Greco back into his hut. Talk to him. After a discussion with Ghetz' sister Romana, Greco tags into your party! If guile's in your party, have the fortune-teller give him another reading, and she gives him a new brass rod! talk to the churros guy again, and tell him to lower the price (70g's). Leave termina, and go to viper manor.

Viper Manor -- Another World

time to explore!!! beat up the roborg, and open the front gate. in the courtyard all the way in the back of the screen is a chest with a tablet inside. go inside, and go to the dungeon. in the bucket where the dragoon with the key was standing is the parlor key. head to the basement, to luccia's lab again. free norris, and he tells you luccia's on the balcony. grab the silver earring from on top of the desk. in the trap room next door (no longer guarded by a portalgheist) is a chest with a bronze helmet. don't bother with the rest of the stuff in the room yet. go across the hall and up the stairs to the parlor room (next to harle's room). use the key and get the daemon charm from the ches. head to the library. the prophet of time tells you that the dragoons have moved to fort dragonia. behind his desk is a doorway that leads down. talk to the beach bum to get the porre furnace flame (ewww... porre), and you can change serge's name, if you want. go to the platform and hit the switch. neither of the rooms is guarded now. in the left door riddel and her maid are worrying. in general viper's office, x the statue to open the secret room. there's a note in the desk that gives you a clue about the trap room (but, like i said, that's for later). go out on the balcony and talk to luccia. she tells you about the big flower thing in the pool, and about the life sparkle in the hydra marshes. go up the ladder, open the chest, and recieve the sight scope. you can also go explore the bluffs now without having boulders thrown at your head, but there's nothing special there, and enemies are a constant annoyance, and it's a waste of time. but here's what you can get: trap freefall (which you can buy in marbule), meteorite (which you can buy in guldove), tablet (buy anywhere), and a photonray (basically bought anywhere except arni).

Hydra Marshes -- Another World (sidequest)

this is only if you want to recruit neofio. she's cute, but she's nothing special, but it's fun to find everybody's lv.7 techs later in the game. AAAH!!! the screen's jumpin all funny!!! (kinda hurts your eyes, don't it?) Make it stop!!! (okae okae, geeze...) go around the guy and to the left, past the wandering guy. go offscreen left up that white thing. keep going left into the next area. go past the record of FATE, keep right, and grab the electrojolt in the chest. talk to the first guy on the platform to get the safety gear. now cure yourself, cause your HP's pretty shot (when in the hydra marshes in another world without safety gear, your HP keeps dropping every second you're in the contaminated section (the areas where the screen jumped before recieving the safety gear). go back down the way you came, walk down the log, and grab the tablet in the chest. go to the back, dodge the snobgoblin and get the bushwacker (chest, lower left). go up the log, and use the green tinkler on the plant. there's a chest with a seed in the back. keep going farther back, deeper into the marshes, and get the carapace out of the chest. go all the way to the right. fight those two bragging about the life sparkle. they overhear you wondering what they're talking about, and decide to fight you. little do they know that you have safety gear on... defeat them, and get the life sparkle out of the chest. go back, and towards the bottom of the screen. head right again, and get the copper out of the chest. bypass the centaurpede and the lagoon-thingy, and turn right where the potpourri is. see the really small cave? go in and press x until you find skelly's good backbone. get the tablet out of the chest. head down, and get the copper. now, go back and around the potpourri, and go left. use the green tinkler on the plant and go down towards the bottom of the screen... (i love the hydra marshes, with all the twists and turns... (believe it or not, i never get lost...)) now, go back up the log, down towards the bottom of the screen, and leave this world's hydra marshes... *whew* now, if you chose to save kid, you kinda know what your getting yourself into (haha, yeah right... actually, you have nooo clue)...

Viper Manor, revisited (sidequest)

go back up to the balcony, use the life sparkle on the flower in the pool, and blossom! neofio is born! go down to luccia's lab again and ask her to join. luccia assimilated into your party! now, which did you choose, save kid, or not save kid??
