Try To Remember

Here are the chord substitutions that I use to play the 1960 Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt (pictured above) standard Try To Remember from the longest running musical The Fantasticks. The song is yet another great study in standard (I-vi-ii-V) chord progression substitution. The tune is played in a moderate waltz (3/4) tempo and is presented here in the key of "E". Each box below represents one bar with three beats. The chord fingerings I use (in a Standard tuning) are as follows: Emaj7 = 022444; C#m7 = x4245x; F#m7 = 242222; B9 = x21222; B9/A = x01222; G#m7 = 4x4444; B11 = x22222; Amaj7 = 5x665x; Dmaj7 = x57675; E/G# = 4x245x; and Emaj9 = 0x4444 (ending chord).
