On

Hayden Christenson had optained the part of Anakin
Skywalker and will appear in both Episodes II and III.

Episode II Begins filming in Australia. Only two years to
go until its released! yay!
06/09/2000
TheForce.net has reported that
news from Italy states that Lucas will be returning there
for filming in the third prequel meaning that we will
indeed be seeing Naboo once more!

It
seems David 'X-Files' Duchovny has been saying some
rather interesting things as reported on Empire Online:
"It's a busy old time
for Duchovny having to juggle several projects at the
same time, as well as deal with offers from the likes of
George Lucas. Duchovny confirms that Lucas did call him
about Episode 3. 'I'm a fan of Star Wars,' he says, 'but
I'm not sure of having the time to act in it...I've got
tons of projects in production after the X-Files series.'
"

TheForce.net reported yesterday
that the Austrailian actor John Walton has supposedly
been cast for a role in Episode III. His character was
due to appear in Episode II but was written out in the
later drafts but should appear in the third prequel.
02/01/2001
TheForce.net's spies have found
that Austrailian actress Lara Cox could be playing Aurra
Sing in Episode II. It is rumoured to be a very small
part, probably much like the role she had in TPM but will
be expanded upon in Episode III.
16/01/2001
An article in the official German Star Wars magazine
states that Alan Dean Foster, author of the Episode IV
novel and Spliner of the Mind's Eye, has been approached
to write the novelisation of Episode III.

From TheForce.net: "George
Lucas has called Jason Tomaric, director of the low
budget, digitally filmed movie 'One', inquiring if he
wanted to work with him. Lucas was impressed with the
camera work, lighting, and other technical aspects. Since
Episode II has already been filmed there is a high
possibility that Tomaric will be involved with the
production of Episode III.
17/01/2001
TheForce.net has heard from
several insiders that some scenes for the third prequel
have already been filmed during the production of Episode
II. The scenes were probably on a set that would only be
required for a few shots and so they used this as an
opportunity to cut down on costs come 2003.
07/02/2001
A report at TheForce.net states that a
Tatooine set from Episode II is that which was filmed for
the Episode III scenes. It's described as "concrete
villages" which suggests the slave quarters in Mos
Espa. The report also stated that for the shooting they
were scorched black. Perhaps there is a slave revolt in
the third prequel in which the quarters go up in flames!

The Official Site has updated its
biography on Princess Leia so that it now says:
"Leia grew up in a
highly-charged political atmosphere and watched as
Senator Palpatine took increasing control of the galactic
government, eventually declaring himself Emperor."
The first thing to be noticed is that Palpatine is
referred to as "Senator" and not
"Chancellor" which he is in Episode II (could
he be demoted during Episode III?). Also, it says that
Leia grew up and watched as Palpatine became Emperor
suggesting that Episode III takes place over several
years. Thanks to Episode-X for the news.

The Official Site has updated with
information on the pre-production of Episode III:
"George is starting to think about Episode
III," says McCallum, "Hopefully we're going to
start in September on conceptual work, and start on
animatics for some of the larger sequences for Episode
III. We'll try to lock down the costumes by December 2002
so we can make it easier for wardrobe staff to start
constructing costumes in Sydney for January 2003."
Updated Episode II FAQ.
21/05/2001
TheForce.net has a report saying that
Jay Laga'aia who portrays Captain Typho in Episode II
will be returning for Episode III and is not being
replaced like he took over from Hugh Quarshie's character
Captain Panaka.
Updated Episode II FAQ.

In
the latest Jedi Council question on the Official site
Rick McCallum was asked about if he knew where location
shooting would be taking place for Episode II. This was
his answer:
"No, not yet. But I'm
looking forward to going to search for locations when the
script is far enough along."
14/08/2001
Jedinet has pointed out an
interview with Gabriel Byrne on the Zwire site concerning a
possible role in Episode III: Usual
Suspects actor is set to take a starring role in the
third and final STAR WARS epic - which is planned for
release in 2005. Byrne says of his talks with Lucas,
"We're discussing it." But the 51-year-old
Irishman confirmed that any decision was months away. He
adds, "But I think they're still writing the
script." You must remember, however,
that these rumours also surfaced during the
pre-production of AOTC so I'd take them with a pinch of
salt. However, Byrne would make a very good younger
Tarkin.
14/08/2001
At the Official site a classic moment with an interview
of original trilogy artist Joe Johnston gives a clue as
to a location that might appear in Episode III: "When
we were doing [Jedi], I remember I had done a series of
sketches of Vader's home, and there was a sea of lava
that his house looked out on. I remember having trouble
drawing it because everything was either orange or a
shadow; it was very intense. But before we got too far,
George said he would save this for somewhere down the
line, and I stopped working on it."
27/10/2001
From Dark Horizons: "For
a few days now Willem Dafoe has been rumoured for a role
in the last prequel, now Robbie Coltrane is rumoured to
have met with Lucasfilm casting."
Aldera have also had reports on rumoured artwork from the
ILM offices detailing what could be key plot points for
Episode III. Highlight to read: The first shows what
appears to be a supernova-like occurance destroying the
planet Naboo. The second compares
"good" and "evil" sides of characters
with known dual identities - Palpatine/Sidious and
Dooku/Tyrannus. The third compares
Gabriel Byrne and Tarkin. The fourth shows
what appears to be different versions of Padme suggesting
that she may be cloned to either aid in Anakin's fall or
to fake her own death...
16/11/2001
An interview with George Lucas in TV Guide further confirmed
his belief that Episode III will be the darkest of the
prequel trilogy. He also said that he is filming new
scenes for the Original Trilogy which confirms the
rumours that there will be a series of Archival Editions.
21/11/2001
RedEyeJedi reported at TheFanboy.Network that there's a
possibility that Episode III will be filmed in Leavesden
Studios in the UK again. This may be due to the amount of
information leaks while AOTC was being filmed in Fox
Studios Australia.
06/12/2001
TheFanboyNetwork released a list of
actor's names who are in consideration for roles in
Episode III:
Gabriel Byrne, Robbie Coltrane, Lara Cox, Christopher
Eccleston, George Shevtsov, Ken Stott, Roshan Seth, Willem Dafoe, Robert Englund
None of these are definate but these are the first names
to be mentioned. Gabriel Byrne's name has appeared
several times over the past few years and has supposedly
spoken to Lynne Hales at Lucasfilm. This is also the
second time in recent months that Robbie Coltrane has
been mentioned.
27/03/2002 (EPISODE III)
The latest issue of STAR WARS INSIDER (#59) had some
EPISODE III casting info:
Rick McCallum says that they haven't done any casting as
of yet but Rick does confirm that the following people
will return: Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Natalie
Portman (Padme Amidala), Hayden
Christensen (Anakin Skywalker), Ian
McDiarmid (Palpatine), Christopher
Lee
(Count Dooku), Jimmy Smits (Bail Organa) and Samuel
Jackson (Mace Windu. Another
"Bad Guy" role must also be cast and we can
theorise that this will be the younger version of Peter
Cushing's 1977 character Tarkin.
McCallum also addressed the rumours of Gabriel
Byrne
being cast, saying "that rumor
has been going around for so many years saying he's being
considered. I don't know how many times I've heard that
one. It just isn't true."

(EPISODE III)
The Calgary Sun has an interview with Samuel Jackson
confirming that Mace Windu will be returning for Star
Wars: Episode III in 2005. "All
the Jedi die in Episode III during the Clone Wars. I told
George (Lucas) I didn't mind dying, I just didn't want to
go out like some punk ... George said that was fine and
he'd see what he could do about a fitting death scene for
Mace," says Jackson.
