INTERVIEWS

Planning

The most vital part of our project are probably the interviews. By interviewing a selected group of people and asking them questions related to voluntarism, we can find out the trend of doing voluntary work, how they truly feel about it and thus analyse the trend and come up with suggestions that will truly encourage people to do voluntary work. This interview will be carried out on 10-20 people, mostly schooling teenagers and teachers.

First up was the planning of the questions. Through storyboarding the interview, we have come up with questions that belong under three levels:

Level 1 - the questions that ask for the interviewee's background information, for example his name, school and age. This is important in grouping and analysing data.

Level 2 - the factualy questions including where the interviewee does his voluntary work, how often he does it andwhether he does it in a group or alone. These answers will provide us with answers and help us in analysing the conditions under which people do voluntary work.

Level 3 - these are the inferencial questions that require the interviewee's own input. For example, what he feels about the 6 compulsory CIP hours, what he feels are the motivators and non-motivators behind doing voluntary work. These answers will aid us in understanding what volunteers and non-volunteers feel about voluntarism and thus analyse and come up with suggestions that could encourage voluntarism.

Besides the questions, there were also the practical aspects, for example the date and time of the interview, the venue, the interviewees, and the equipment. We have decided to rent the relevant equipment from the school and as for the rest of the details, they will be finalised in due course.

Results

We are in the process of undertaking the interview, so there are no results yet.
