Falcon4.0

I have decided to add this game to our squadron because it gives us the most realism and possiblities to choose from. Since late 1998 Falcon4 has remained the reference in jet-combat Simulations but also the most complex game there is. Because of the retreat of Microprose from the SIM-genre there were no official addons published so the fan community had to work on their own stuff. Now the Falcon4 Unified Team works on a series of enhancements, called "Super Paks", for the original which push it even further in terms of realism.

All of our Falcon pilots are expected to have these things:
1)
a copy of the original Falcon4.0
2) the latest game patch from Microprose (version1.08)
owners of the german version need to download 1.07patch first
3) the SP3 installer PAK

Our Falcon4 crew consists of 2 wings:

1) the US Task Force squad flying the F14B/D and F16C

2) the Aggressor Air Wing flying the MiG29A/C/S and SU27/33

To ensure that everybody in the squad has the same settings I have created a filter-file that you have to put into your F4patch directory. Download here

Additional info on the planes:

F14B/D Tomcat:
Still one of the most dangerous combat jets in the skies though it entered service in 1972. This plane is well know for it's enormous attack range of about 110nm and the dream of many pilots. Most targets are already hunted down by missiles before they themselves can even fire a missile. The F14 has a maximum radar range of 320km although it is theoratically possible to double it. Early versions had severe problems because of insufficient engine output. This was solved by updating the planes to the B and later D version with more powerful GE-110 engines. The F14 has "only" medium maneuvrability but that doesnt mean it is not suited for dogfights. Its swing wing design compensates much of its overweight problem. The only countries operating the F14 are the USA and the Iran.
F16C Fighting Falcon:
The "Workhorse" of the USAF is a very good allround plane capable of attacking air and ground targets. The F16 was one of the first planes introducing the new fly-by-wire technology giving it a great maneuvrability in dogfights. The C version is also able of carrying the new AIM-120 missiles and most modern NATO weapons. The A version entered service in the mid-70s. F16s are used in many different countries around the globe.
MiG29 Fulcrum:
Often compared to the F16 it can outperform most modern planes or at least keep up with them. The downside of this plane is its relatively weak A2A armament. It suffers from the fact that the AA10 (comparable to the AIM7 Sparrow) is its' only BVR missile. Modernized versions are able of carrying the newer AA12 Adder  missiles which provide a quantum leap in attack performance. Fulcrums are mainly used in ex-soviet nations and middle-east countries.
SU27/33 Flanker:
Most western experts will tell you that the Flanker is definitely the best russian plane in service. Its state-of-art avionics and weapons compensate its weaker turning-performance compared to the 16 and 29. Just like the Tomcat it has a radar range of about 300km but other than the F14 it has no suitable missiles to take advantage of this. Russia has developed many versions of this plane including the SU30, the carrier-based SU33 with extra flaperons and the SU35 with vector-thrust giving it an impressive maneuvrability. Some countries like Russia, Ukraine, China and India operate the Flanker-series.
