Chines go on before the bottom is cut and fitted. |
Chines now fastened with copper nails and epoxy, it's time for the bottom to be put
in place and marked for cutting. |
Bottom pieces are put together with a 1/4 inch butt strap 6 inches wide and will
be installed after final planing and sanding of the external chines. |
Every thing is lined lined up and plumbed. Bottom goes on and she's turned
over. It's amazing how stiff the hull is at this point. Here you can
see the temporary cross peices attached to the top of the frames. Prating
is putting on the gunnels here while I man the camera. Nailing and clamping
make things go fast. This is about day 3. We had a lot of visitors
who had never seen this kind of boat being built before. Lots
of questions to answer . |
