"Carl Zeiss Vision will offer Demandforce D3 to eye care professionals through the company's Carl Zeiss Vision Rewards program.  With Demandforce D3, eye care practitioners may use text messaging, email marketing, and automated appointment reminders to communicate with patients, and will benefit from online profiles enhanced with consumer reviews, surveys and customized business data," goes the company's press release.

Transitions Distances Itself from "Free" Promo

FDA Cracks Down on Lens Imports

This report is from the PRWeb site: "The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is proving its newly formed concern regarding the safety and validity of claimed 'impact-resistant lenses' in eyeglasses and sunglasses by initiating a new FDA Import Alert, last updated on August 26, 2010. Import Alert 86-07 'Detention Without Physical Examination of and Guidance for 'Impact-Resistant Lenses in Eyeglasses and Sunglasses' (IA 86-07) includes a Red List of five firms which have been added only since July 15, 2010. Three of these five firms were added on August 26, 2010. ... Sunglasses (with or without UV protection) and eyeglasses (prescription and nonprescription) are regulated by FDA as medical devices."

Vision-Ease Sues Transitions

Bloomberg.com has reported that "Vision-Ease Lens Inc., a unit of IEAP X LP, sued PPG Industries Inc.’s Transitions Optical Inc. for allegedly monopolizing the market for eyeglass lenses that darken when exposed to sunlight." That's the entire story as posted for now.
