No one has any idea why the Hobgoblin was involved in the action figure line. He wasn’t present in the mini-series. He wasn’t a super popular character. He’d only been introduced about a year before the line debuted.

And it’s a kick ass action figure. Probably the coolest sculpt in the line with the best accessory-the goblin glider. He even had a cape (even if it was a little wimpy half cape). Doom and Magneto didn’t have a cape. I really wonder if any Marvel person was ever present at any of the Mattel meetings or if there was any amount of control exerted by Marvel.

The Hobgoblin is one of the most popular figures from the line and regularly sells quickly when he’s available for sale. For some reason or another, the bubbles for the 2^nd series figures seem to yellow more than the 1^st series figures while the foreign figures rarely have the yellowing bubble problem.
