Justin sat against a wall so no one could come behind him, staring ahead as if expecting someone to jump out in front of him. He had two security guards on either side and two along the wall, all armed. Jessy walked in to find a gun pointed at her by all four guards. Justin looked up with the same lifeless expression.
"Relax guys, she's fine," he said in a monotone voice.
The guards relaxed a little and put their guns in their laps, ready to whip them out if necessary.
"Justin, I know how much you loved her, and I know how close you were with Kevin and Nick... but if they were here, they'd be telling you to get a grip. You can't just sit around here sulking and living in fear. I understand your really upset, and I will talk and cry for hours on end with you, but you have to start having social interaction again, Justin," said Jessy.
"How's Chris? Is Chris okay? Where's Chris?" Justin replied.
"He's downstairs playing video games."
"How much security does he have?"
"Six... six guards."
"That's not enough."
"Yes Justin, it is enough. Just chill, okay?"
"I'm just scared for him..."
"I know... but trust me Justin, he'll be fine. Why don't you go down there and play some games with him? He's pretty lonely without his partner in crime."
Justin sat for a few seconds, and then slowly stood up. All his security immediately stood up. Two went in front of him, two behind. Jessy turned and headed out of the room in front of them, heading back down the stairs and dropping into one of the chairs in the living room. Chris looked up at her briefly and she nodded. He turned his attention to the stairs where Justin was making his way down.
Chris turned his attention back onto the game he was playing, but kept one eye on Justin as he walked over and sat down next to him on the floor, leaning back against the couch. Chris let himself die, then set his controller down and looked at Justin.
"Hey."
"Hey, Chris."
"Do you want to play?" Chris asked, holding the other controller out.
Justin nodded and took the controller, and Chris started the game back up. Jessy watched them for a few minutes, smiling as she watched Justin starting to act like his normal self. She stood up and walked around the back of the couch to the kitchen, where Lance was sitting reading the paper. He looked up as Jessy walked in.
"Hey Jess. How is he?"
"He's in there, playing with Chris."
"That's good. I was gonna start cutting off his supply train until he came down..."
"Yeah, the thought crossed my mind, too. I'm gonna make some lunch for everyone, could you help me?"
"Sure," Lance said, folding his paper up.
Lance and Jessy finished making all of the sandwiches just as everyone piled into the living room to watch Chris and Justin play. They brought out the food and Justin and Chris paused the game so they could eat. Jessy had even made extra for the guards, who ate their sandwiches thankfully.
All of the guys kept talking happily, the mood up for the first time in days. Chris and Justin turned off their game when they all decided to watch some movies, and they all picked out some movies to watch. Jessy and Ashley excused themselves and headed into the kitchen. Once they were in the kitchen and sure no one was listening, Ashley turned to Jessy.
"I wish I knew who was doing all of this. I mean it's one think to kill innocent people, but then to rub it in their victim's friends' face? And threatening to kill one of his brothers?"
"I know, Ash, but none of this happened until after we met Johnny the other night. We just got here, I really don't see how we could be much help..."
"We've got to. The police aren’t really doing much, just stepping up security."
"I know, and considering what has happened it doesn't look like that's much help. We've got to keep an eye on the guys, and try to figure out who's behind all of this so we can stop it."
"How do you suppose we do that? We aren’t even signed, yet. We've got basically no power around here."
"But that is part of it. These people are after pop artists, not people trying to become them. We're not signed so that makes us pretty much invisible. All we've got to do is keep an eye out, and try to figure out if anyone around here is linked to the killer... or killers."
"Yeah. Do you think anyone at WEG is part of whatever is going on?"
"It seems like there would be. You know, to keep an eye on the guys."
"It's probably someone new on the job. We should ask Johnny about anybody hired recently."
Both girls fell silent when Jc came in to grab some drinks for everyone. It was a moment before he noticed they were watching him.
"You guys are going to miss the start of the movies..."
"We were just heading back in. Need some help with those?" Ashley asked, pushing some hair behind her ears and reaching out to help Jc with the drinks.
He nodded gratefully and collected some more. Jessy took some as well, and all three of them walked back into the living room, handing out the drinks before they settled in. Ashley between Jc and Lance, and Jessy between Justin and Chris. Joey was laying on the floor with a pillow, propping himself up on his elbows. They all settled in and enjoyed the first event-free day, which would also be their last.
