August 1, 2005 - Monday

Cloudy and rainy on and off today.

An okay day. It wasn't great, it wasn't terrible.

I slept in very late, but Fumihiko went off and went to the doctor. He's still having problems with his hands/wrists.

In the afternoon we went to Moku-Moku for lunch. It was adequate as usual. I really don't like going there that much.

In the afternoon we talked about what to do and Fumihiko decided to go to the mall to see if there was a movie. We went by S-mall first to get me some crispbreads, then went out to the mall. There weren't any movies so we played stupid coin games for a bit, then I went shopping. I bought myself a couple of shirts, one for work, one for my time. It's a bit bizarre looking, but maybe cool I think.

We decided that it was time for dinner when we left the mall. Fumihiko suggested going to the Washington Hotel's Beer Garden so he drove to Marica's Parking lot. We parked and went to the hotel. However, I told him that the Beer Gardens were actually outside the station, he didn't believe me. We went to the Hotel, read their info and of course, I was right. We tried to go but the last order was only 20 minutes away. Fumihiko thought it was okay, but I said no. It was quite expensive and I was hoping to have a more relaxing dinner.

We went to Shoy-ya instead. It's an izakaya in the station. They have great food. We had a nice dinner, and it was much cheaper than the meal at the Hotel would have been.

We stopped in at the book store on the way to the grocery store.I wanted to get Katie-chan a book about yukatas. She has one, but doesn't really know about wearing it. This book is in Japanese, but it has lots and lots of pictures that explain how. While I was there a lady started talking to me. She was very nice, but she kept asking me if I knew any of the other foreigners in Tsuruoka. Well, lady, no I don't. I was being polite, but not friendly, but she didn't get the hint. I hate that! Finally, I went over to hubby and said that I'd found a book and was okay to go. She left me alone after that.

At the grocery store I picked up a few groceries (naturally!). I'm trying to change my diet for the next few days. I'm finally tired of omelets. And eggs.

We watched tonight's episode of ER, which was good, but not great. Now, I'm waiting for Fumihiko to take a bath so that I can have a few minutes of peace. I'm sorry to say this, but frankly, it drives me nuts spending all day with my husband. He never makes any plans to do anything, wanders all over stores with me, even when it's quite obvious that I'd much, much rather be by myself, and never wants to buy himself anything.

So, as you can tell, I'm not in the best of moods. He's watching the news in Japanese and when the mood strikes him, he translates everything for me. I don't want him to. I've asked him many, many times, not to translate for me. Mostly because I don't care, but also because I'll read the REAL story on the internet or in the newspaper tomorrow.

Anyway, that's my report for today. Hope all is well with you. Night night.
