The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

HUGE. That word alone represents much of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The game is huge in the aspects of size (256 Megabits), and also in inmportance. Zelda was extremely important to Nintendo, as this game alone seems as if it would decide the fate of the Nintendo 64 console. It was big for Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto, as this, if as good as hoped, would once again ensure his place among the greatest men ever in the gaming industry. The whole world waited for about 3 years since the first screen-shots were released. It waited through delay after delay, and waited through even more delays. Then, a date was set. On November 23, Zelda would ship! Zelda fans waited anxiously while the months passed ever so slowly, and more and more was released until people were about ready to go psychotic. Although a rumor of the game being only 11 hours long made a few fans doubtful, gold cartridges were announced, and the whole thing was forgotten. There was no way this game could disappoint. Zelda hopefuls rushed to their nearest retailer and pre-ordered. The commercials came around. So did the movie trailer. So did word-of-mouth. The anticipation for Zelda rose to unprecedented heights. Finally, the day came.

And Mr. Miyamoto came through in spades.

Zelda shocked the world-over with stunning graphics, brilliant sound and music, the length, and the depth. The cinemas, the adventure, the puzzles... the world was astounded. Although the control, with no assigned "jump" button, left some people thinking it would be a mistake, Some people said it would be Mario with a sword. WRONG. Some people said it would be a huge disappointment. WRONG AGAIN. The land of Hyrule returns with a brilliant aura, and you forget all that is around you. The game is totally engrossing, and the hours fly by (as they do in the game). There is too much to do for you to run through this game, because if you do, you're not enjoying the game. There are funny little parts in the game, too. For example, try hitting a chicken repeatedly with your sword, and it gets help from other "friends" and they attempt to peck you to death! Or, try bombing some stone statues. You'll see what happens (we don't want to ruin it for you!). There are all sorts of mini-games in the game itself. One is a fishing game. You could spend hours just relaxing by the pond fishing peacefully. You can ride a horse over rolling hills, climb tall mountains, and dive to the depths of a lake. Real light sourcing is great in the game, and shadows cast around Link in various directions. As you can see, I could go on and on about this game, but you need to check it out for yourself.
