PLAYSTATION 2 REVEALED!
Well, it's almost here. Sony doesn't want Sega to catch all the steam. Here's their counterattack details, and of course, we've tried to break it down into the simplest terms possible.
Details:
* PSX 2 is about 100X as powerful as the PSX 1.
* Floating-point processing at about 3 times the speed of a PIII 500Mhz processor
* System Clock: 300 Mhz
* CPU: 128-bit
* MPEG 2 as image decoder
* DVD Disc Drive
* Main Memory: 32MB

Release Dates:
Japan: Q4, 1999
USA: Q3, 2000

Prices?
Probably about $300, depending on how much the Dreamcast costs (they've got to try and mtch te Dreamcast, though they'll probably be over the mark by about $25-$50.

Other details about the PSX2 are that it includes an "Emotion Engine" which can do amazing mathematical calculations, and is one of the best math processors available. What's more, this can be used for creating incredible 3-dimensional worlds, and also lightning-fast AI.

WAIT! There's one more thing to worry about. The Sony Playstaion has a .18 micron processing chip they need to use! So what does that mean? The chip isn't really easy to make, and in production many chips will turn out bad, or otherwise. What we're trying to say here is, there might be a limited amount of PSX 2's out for sale at launch time, so you might want to buy yours early, or wait for the next Nintendo system. Want to know more about the console race? Look below!
CONSOLE RACE!
Welcome everyone to the next console race, beginning soon! Wondering how it will turn out, and which console to buy? Look ahead for our predictions!
This console race looks just like the last one:
* Sega releases Saturn system (32-bit)
* Sony releases Playstation system (32-bit)
* Saturn is nearly dead
* Nintendo releases Nintendo 64 system (64-bit)
* Saturn gone

- Here we have the Nintendo and Sony battle, and since Sony has more games and already has an installed user base, they have more consoles sold. Nintendo capitalized on the fact that their contenders needed load time, and thus used cartridges to eliminate that. They also noticed that PSX could be pirated like crazy due to the CD's, and the cartridges also helped that too. They come out with a 64-bit system to better it's contenders, and also innovative games, such as Mario 64, still hailed as one of the greatest games of all time. -

This console race:
* Sega releases Dreamcast
* Sony releases Playstation 2
(what will probably happen)
* Dreamcast nearly dead
* Nintendo releases Nintendo 200X
* Dreamcast gone
- This is when what will probably happen is Sony will have a good user base, but Nintendo will have a greater system, and as usual, more innovative ideas for games and the system itself.

SMASH BROTHERS IS COMING TO AMERICA!
Yes! It's final! Smash Brothers (tenative title) is coming to America! This game looks to be amazing as the mascots of Nintendo settle some old grudges by beating each other's brains in (does Kirby have a brain?)! Get ready, in April it's coming! Play as Link, Mario, Luigi, Pikachu, and more!
TETRIS MOVED BACK FOR BETTER GAME
Well, nobody was REALLY awaiting Tetris 64's sequel (or at least we hope). t's been moved back to make way for Smash Brothers! April 24th is the expected release for S.B.

WHAT GAMES GOT CANCELED???
As usually happens during the life of a console, games are thought up and tossed out all the time. However, some interesting games have been tossed out, such as Robotech: Crystal Dreams and Contra. However, there is a good side to this. Ditching games frees up time for other games... hopefully Mega Man (yes, you heard right) will be released, as well as others!
AN N64 EMULATOR?
Yes, you may have heard a Nintendo 64 Emulator has been released. This crafty little device allows you to play Nintendo 64 games on a computer... exactly what Nintendo is afraid of. Nintendo does not support the emulator, and is in fact against it as they claim it is illegal. Due to this, the emulator may be pulled off shelves very quickly, so if you want one you'd better hurry
BATTLETANX VS. SNUGGLES
Perhaps you've seen one of the funniest N64 commercials ever... it starts off with a little bear who resembles Snuggles singing when a tank crashes in on him. The bear runs, and you see glimpses of him on fire and with one arm missing. Eventually the tank runs over him, while "Snuggles" caughs up some cotton and says "BattleTanx". Yeah, we all thought it was hilarious. But you shall see it no more. A recent court battle forced the creators of the commercial to pull it off the air, although they won the case anyways... so if you were planning to show it to friends, give up (and if you do see it again, consider yourself EXTREMELY lucky)

NEXT JAMES BOND FILM ANNOUNCED... WILL THERE BE A GAME?
Almost definitely. The next Bond film, The World is Not Enough, will be the 19th Bond film in the series. Immediately all game companies jumped to get exclusive rights. There is good news for Nintendo 64 owners... athough TND will be on PSX only, chances are good that Nintendo will have Bond 19 on the N64, due to the fact that MGM and Sony aren't exactly buddies anymore. (Have you heard of the case Sony tried to make in order to make their own Bond series?) Well, anyways, it looks like Bond will return to N64. But who will make it? Rare? Nintendo? Possibly MGM themselves? Who knows? We will inform you of updates...
DREAMCAST RELEASED IN JAPAN; SPECS REVEALED
Thanks to Next Generation Magazine and other sources, we now have the specifications on the Dreamcast, the new system from Sega. It has been released to the Japanese, and will come here to America in the lalte part of this year... but don't worry. Since this will be the case, chances are that Sega of America will upgrade the Japanese Dreamcast's 33.6Kbps Modem to a 56.6Kbps modem. However, here are the other specs for the Dreamcast:
* AICA sound : Has 3D effects in sound and music, and 64-channel output.
* 16 Mb main RAM : Pretty good compared to PSX's 2 Mb.
* 128 Kb Flash RAM : Stores Internet Info from user.
* GD-ROM : This will make it harder for amateurs to copy games.
* Liduid Cooler : This allows the Dreamcast's super hot system to cool down.
FINAL FANTASY MOVIE
Yep, it's coming all right... eventually. Those of you who have wondered about this will be happy to know that thers IS a Final Fantasy movie in the works. It will use all computer-generated images. However, you'll have to wait until 2001 for it.
ZELDA IS KING
Zelda has broken even more records! Hear ye, hear ye. Hear are thy records:
* Best Selling Game of 1998 (other than Goldeneye)
* Fastest Selling Game of All Time
* Most Anticipated Game of All Time
* Outsold everything, raking in 150 million dollars. The next closest thing was a MOVIE, A Bug's Life, which only raked in about 115 Million. (Note: Only counting movies released at same time)
* More, more, more... there sure is more, but we could go on for a while. Just keep in mind that Zelda was released a little over a month before the end of the year, and outsold every game that year.

EVER BEEN TO ZELDA.COM ?
Many of us, in the search for more information on what may be the greatest game of all time, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, have thought to ourselves, "Hey, let's try ' zelda.com '! They must have something there!" Well, if you've ever been there, you will have found a highly pornographic site. "Why doesn't Nintendo do something about this?", you might ask. In fact, Nintendo has been trying to resolve this problem. However, the owner of Zelda.com does not want to give up the URL. He asserts that Nintendo copyrighted "The Legend of Zelda" and not "Zelda". Nintendo plans to go to court with the matter, and we will bring you breaking news on the outcome. However, if you DO want to go to Nintendo's official Zelda website, click here.
NINTENDO'S NEW SYSTEM
So we've heard about Playstation 2. We've heard about Dreamcast. What will Nintendo do? They currently are working on a "Nintendo 2000", but don't expect it soon. Nintendo executives have not ditched their user bases early, and although that may have hurt them last console war, it would be a let down to Nintendo 64 buyers if Nintendo just left them in the dust. Therefore, it may very well be a "Nintendo 2001" we're looking for. The RAM Expansion Pak has greatly increased the N64's lifespan as the only survivor of the 64DD package. We will bring the latest news on Nintendo 2000 as soon as possible.
