Movies viewed on the big screen since January 2000:
ATTENTION!
This is NOT the only film review site on the net that includes the endings! (I checked, there are two well-known ones that are quite easy to find.) Of course if you've already seen the films, you've got nothing to worry about! Thing is, you have have to look at the list to know which ones you have or haven't seen! ; )

1996 | 1997 | 1998 | 1999 | 2000 | 2001 | 2002

Fantasia/2000 - Disney starts off the new year with this assortment of lavishly animated short sequences set to classical music, with various celebrities presenting each one. Includes the classic 'Sorcerer's Apprentice.' And it premiered in big, glorious Imax!
Ending: The film's orchestra members, seen between each segment, get up and leave with their instruments.
Best scene: It's hard to say, the segments are so different from each other. But the "flamingo with a yo-yo" is quite the crowd-pleaser!

American Beauty - Who's in it: Kevin Spacey, Annette Bening, Thora Birch.
A suburban family slowly spirals into madness as their facade of 'the perfect family' slowly crumbles, one family member at a time. Superbly acted by all involved, by the way.
Ending: The dad/husband Stanley finally looks at a framed picture of his family, and smiles contentedly, then...
Best scene: When Stanley catches a glimpse of his daughter's classmate during a cheerleading session, and whoa mama, that's a lot of rose petals!

Scream 3 - Who's in it: David Arquette, Courteney Cox Arquette, Neve Campbell.
Get ready to scream again, or in this case, yawn, as the gang get hacked up one by one, one more time. Then there's that finale where you get to find out who's been doing the hacking, whoo!
Ending: You get to find out who's been doing the hacking, whoo- ahh, who cares.
Best scene: The three stars mentioned at the beginning of this review watch a videotape of one of the Scream 1 killers, as he warns them about how the third act of a serial killing is like the third movie in a trilogy.

Being John Malkovich - Who's in it: John Cusack, Cameron Diaz, Catherine Keener.
Okay, a puppeteer turned file sorter at an office on the 7th (and 1/2) floor, finds a small portal that enables him to enter the body of actor John Malkovich, and see what he sees. Then said puppeteer's wife (who owns a menagerie in their apartment) tries it, then a sexy lady on puppeteer's office floor tries it too. Then the two ladies fall in love with each other... through John Malkovich. Very bizarre, yet very funny!
Ending: Puppeteer man can't enter John Malkovich's mind anymore, so he finds another host...
Best scene: When John Malkovich himself discovers the portal and ventures through it into his own mind. What would someone see when they enter a portal into their own mind? As a very freaked out Mr. Malkovich finds out and then states: "That's something no-one should have to experience!!"

Mission To Mars - Who's in it: Tim Robbins, Gary Sinise, Don Cheadle.
A group of astronauts go to the red planet, don't return, and it's up to another group of astronauts to rescue them. Then they find this reeeeally big face on the planet that's actually a portal to... well, that'd be giving it away, wouldn't it?
Ending: That's pretty much the ending. They find the portal, and discover an interesting (and corny) connection between Mars and Earth.
Best scene: Witnessing what happens to the original crew who landed on the planet. Eww!

Boys Don't Cry - Who's in it: Hilary Swank, Chloe Sevigny, Peter Sarsgaard.
Harrowing (and true) story of the female Teena Brandon, who masquerades as the male Brandon Teena, falls for a broken-home girl, and ultimately falls victim to two destructive redneck fellas. Very well acted, but difficult to sit through.
Ending: If you know the actual case the movie's based on, it makes it all the more tragic.
Best scene: Brandon and his drinkin' buddies get pursued one night by a cop car through a dust-clouded dirt road.

The Road To El Dorado - Who's doing the voices: Kevin Kline, Kenneth Branagh, Rosie Perez.
DreamWorks tries the Diznee formula with this buddy story of two Spanish con men who wind up by accident in the lost city of El Dorado, and take advantage of their situation when they're mistaken as gods by the citizens.
Ending: The city remains hidden, more so actually!
Best scene: A nasty character summons a veeery large stone beastie, who chases our would-be god heroes.

American Psycho - Who's in it: Christian Bale, Chloe Sevigny, Reese Witherspoon.
An 80's Yuppie (Bale) struggles with his insatiable need to do many atrocities to many women, while living in his most opulent surroundings. More darkly comic than outright gory.
Ending: Psycho Yuppie's secretary (Sevigny) leafs curiously through his daily agenda, and finds doodles of just what's been going on inside his head.
Best scene: Psycho Yuppie describes why the latest Phil Collins CD, No Jacket Required, is so great... while preparing a threesome with two prostitutes!

U-571 - Who's in it: Matthew McConaughey, Harvey Keitel, Bill Paxton.
Ultra-tense wartime pic involves the stealing of a German code machine, then a whole German sub by a number of brave US naval seamen. Check out this movie with surround sound
Ending: The surviving US seamen get rescued... ah, but how and where?
Best scene: It starts with the line: "We've got a big problem." Indeed they do!

Gladiator - Who's in it: Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Connie Nielsen.
Our Millennial audience meets the Roman Epic. Maximus, a wronged general becomes a warrior gladiator, then becomes entangled with the new Roman Emperor and almost romantically involved with the Emperor's sister. It's brutal as all git-out, but very well-made.
Ending: Gladiator and vile Emperor confront eachother...
Best scene: The movie's start, which features a looong, bloody, head-lopping, limb-hacking, Roman soldiers vs. German barbarians battle.

Battlefield Earth - Who's in it: John Travolta, some other actors.
Didn't see it.

Dinosaur - Who's doing the voices: D.B. Sweeney, Julianna Margulies, Alfre Woodard.
Huge on visuals, slim on plot. This (computer animated characters/live action locale) tale follows the Iguanodon Aladar, as he and his adoptive family of lemurs witness a devastating comet attack, then set out on a search for water with a whole herd of dinos. But hold on, dinosaurs didn't speak! Let alone speak in some midwestern accent!
Ending: It's from Disney, it's for kids, it's a nice ending!
Best scene: The huuuuge comet explosion that starts off the dino Exodus.

Mission: Impossible 2 - Who's in it: Tom Cruise, Thandie Newton, Dougray Scott.
Better looking than the first impossible mission, but just as twisty and turny. The Cruiser must seek out and contain a super deadly virus, while a supervillain tries to exploit and unleash it. There's lots of stuff blowing up too! And face masks, plenty of them!
Ending: Who cares! Tommo's extreme action scenes are the main reason to check this movie out!
Best scene: The Cruise-meister breaks into a high-tech lab, only to find out the villains have too!

Me, Myself & Irene - Who's in it: Jim Carrey, Jim Carrey, Renee Zellweger.
Good cop Carrey becomes bad schizo cop Carrey in this side-splittingly disgusting road trip movie from the guys who brought you Something About Mary.
Ending: During the end credits you get to see the actors who had little screen time in the movie, or were cut from the movie altogether!
Best scene: Well I could say the scene where Carrey's two personalities duke it out with themselves in the same body, but there's this breastfeeding scene and... dear god!

The Patriot - Who's in it: Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger, Jason Isaacs.
Mel is the family man going into battle with his son against the British Redcoats circa 1776. Stirring, emotional, but Braveheart was better!
Ending: Look in the history books, it's there (but Mel's character is not!)
Best scene: A small band of Redcoats gets ambushed in the woods by... a ghost?

The Perfect Storm - Who's in it: George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Diane Lane.
The true story of a Bostonian swordfish boating crew who find themselves heading straight into the biggest, worst, most tempestuous storm, or the 'perfect' storm.
Ending: With gigantic waves like those, would the crew perish? Or just get really, really lucky?
Best scene: When captain Clooney ventures out onto the deck to stop a stray swinging anchor and chain, armed with only a blowtorch, and a heckuva lot of courage.

The Adventures Of Rocky & Bullwinkle - Who's in it: Rocket J. Squirrel, Bullwinkle Moose, Piper Perabo.
There's also Jason Alexander, Rene Russo, and Robert De Niro as the bad guys Boris, Natasha, and Fearless Leader, respectively. Moose, squirrel, and the bad guys get sucked from their ink and paint setting to the real world, and that announcer guy from the original cartoon is there too, explaining it all.
Ending: The bad guys are foiled again, just like in the cartoon.
Best scene: Bullwinkle gives a rousing, yet meaningless speech at his alma mater, Wossamotta U. Also, during a road trip scene, look out for a sign that reads 'Crymia River!'

X-Men - Who's in it: Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Famke Janssen.
Like the Superman/Batman movies, this one finally gets the whole faithful comic book adaptation thing right. The good mutants (Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Rogue) battle the evil mutants (Sabretooth, Toad, Mystique), while mutant leaders Professor X (good) and Magneto (evil) try to outwit each other.
Ending: Two words: Sequel potential!
Best scene: After the shape-shifting Mystique runs around morphing into other people, Wolverine proves that he really is Wolverine. It's priceless.

Scary Movie - Who's in it: Shannon Elizabeth, Anna Faris, Carmen Electra.
The Scream/I Know What You Blah Blah movies get hilariously spoofed in this envelope-pushing spoof, kinda makes you wonder if they'll make a spoof sequel to this spoof.
Ending: The last scene ends, and the credits appear one after the other, then in an upward scrolling fashion.
Best scene: The one where the audience laughed the loudest.
Best boy: What the hell is a best boy anyway?

Nutty Professor II: The Klumps - Who's in it: Eddie Murphy, Janet Jackson, Eddie Murphy, Eddie Murphy, Eddie Murphy, Eddie Mur-you get the idea.
The sweet Sherman Klump jeopardizes not only his relationship with his lovely fiancee Janet, but his high intelligence as Buddy Love rears his hyper-hormoned head, in fact you'll never believe where he pops his head out of in the opening scene! Then there's Sherman's family, played by, well look above.
Ending: Actually, it's a little like the ending of the first movie, and that's pretty much all I can give away.
Best scene: It involves the university dean from the first movie, a huge hamster, and one very long high note.

Hollow Man - Who's in it: Kevin Bacon, Elisabeth Shue, Josh Brolin.
Things turn tense, and nasty, and creepy, as a scientist turns himself invisible, and it's either the invisible-making serum or the power of not being seen that drives him to hunt down his scientist colleagues, one by one.
Ending: The 'not-quite' Hollow Man gives his ex-lover one last kiss, up-close. Eww, he's all veins and muscles!
Best scene: Bringing a Hollow Lab Gorilla back to visibility, slowly but surely.

The Cell - Who's in it: Jennifer Lopez, Vince Vaughn, Vincent D'Onofrio.
It's Ms. Lopez as a psychologist exploring the mind of of a twisted serial killer. It's weird, it's crazy, it's an eyecandy showcase, but 'The Matrix' meets 'Silence Of The Lambs' it's not.
Ending: In a cleansing ritual, Jennifer appears as the Virgin Mary, or something.
Best scene: Detective Vince tries the serial-killer-mind-exploring thing for the first time, and he sums up the entire movie with just one word.

Bring It On - Who's in it: Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku, Gabrielle Union.
Omigod, a team of cheerleaders finds out their dance moves were like, actually stolen from another cheerleading team by their ex-captain, so it's like, y'know, up to perky, spunky, smiley, cutie new captain Kirsten to save her team from like, total humiliation at the Cheerleading Nationals, or whatever. Actually, it's surprisingly funny.
Ending: Out of all the teams competing, guess which two make it to the finals. Hint: I just wrote about them.
Best scene: Well, to raise a bit of money, the girls have this... bikini car wash. Yeah.

The Exorcist - Who's in it: Ellen Burstyn, Jason Miller, Max von Sydow, Linda Blair.
Regan, fathers Merrin and Karras, demonic possession, rotating heads, pea soup, alternate uses for a (yeesh!) crucifix... they're all here in this long-awaited re-release, but what's new in this Version You've Never Seen Before? Eleven minutes of new scenes, more freaky blink-and-you'll-miss-it subliminal stuff, and an amazingly polished and amped-up surround soundtrack. All just waiting for a new audience.
Ending: It's longer than the original version, and very similar to the novel on which the movie's based.
Best scene: A newly inserted scene that showcases Regan's 'spider-walk.' Good lord!!

Bedazzled - Who's in it: Brendan Fraser, Elizabeth Hurley, Frances O' Connor.
A nerdy Fraser sells his soul to a devilish Hurley for seven wishes, granting him a radically different personality each time. But they all seem to go wrong, even though they're intended to get the pretty girl, and make everything right for Fraser's life, or lack of it!
Ending: Fraser learns the true meaning of being yourself and blah-blah-blah, all from the Devil in Ms. Hurley.
Best scene: One of Fraser's wishes makes him suave, sophisticated, smart, well-groomed, well-read, and - here's the part of the wish that goes wrong - gay.

Meet The Parents - Who's in it: Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo.
Mr. Stiller is Craig/Greg Focker (even his last name's a running joke), a fiance who does just what the movie's title says. Mr. De Niro is the father of the lovely bride to be (Ms. Polo). Too bad nothing seems to go right for all involved. So much so that it's painfully funny!
Ending: De Niro, who just happened to be in the CIA for over 30 years, uses an old trick on Stiller to find out some much needed information.
Best scene: There's a lot. There's the first dinner scene, or the pool scene, or the airplane scene, or the "septic tank overflowed right before the wedding rehearsal and now the entire back garden reeks of sh-" scene...

Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 - Who's in it: Jeffrey Donovan, Erica Leerhsen, Kim Director.
A new group of young people check out where the three campers from the first movie left off (or were they finished off? But that's not the point). Then while staying in a giant warehouse in the middle of the woods, each person finds out they've been doing many heinous acts... with no memory of actually doing them! The plot is intentionally confusing, it's also unintentionally laughable, but that's not the point either. The point is, where was this book? There was no book, I didn't see any book! There were folders and shredded documents, but no actual book. Come to think of it, that's not much of a point!
Ending: In homage to the first movie, it's abrupt.
Best scene: The discovered video footage of what those youngsters got up to during the 'missing' hours.

Charlie's Angels - Who's in it: Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith - no, wait - Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu.
The campy TV phenomenon gets an even campier movie makeover. What's recycled: Hair flips, cleavage, cleavage, the original voice of Charlie, more cleavage. What's new: Matrix-style slow motion stunt scenes, an absence of guns, and a mostly 80's soundtrack (which is odd, seeing as it's based on a show from the 70's). What's unnecessary: Describing the damn plot.
Ending: Some outtakes, and the Angels dressed as a rock band while a tune from Blink-182 plays in the background.
Best scene: While dancing on Soul Train, Cameron does this neat 'swirling butt' thing.

Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas - Who's in it: Jim Carrey, Taylor Momsen, Christine Baranski.
Mr. Carrey in a pinch,
Plays his meanest as The Grinch.
The Whos celebrate the festive season,
The Grinch ruins their fun, but for what reason?
A little girl named Cindy Lou,
Soon finds out why, and you will too!
Ending: Spoil it for you? I don't think so!
Read the book, and then you'll know.
Best scene: That green one, that mean one, does his best,
To be an absolute village pest.

Unbreakable - Who's in it: Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Wright Penn.
Deliberately slow-paced thriller about Willis, a security guard who doesn't seem to get physically hurt. Then there's Jackson, a comic book art dealer whose bones are as brittle as glass. Mr. Glass gradually lets on that Security Guard Man must have a higher purpose in life...
Ending: ...and that's where the twist comes in. There's more to Guard and Glass than just their physical conditions. One is invincible, the other is a genius, bitter at the world. Then there's the comic book factor, hmmm.
Best scene: The ending. (It has a twist, after all.)

Chicago (Shubert Theatre, Broadway, New York) - Who's playing the roles: Jasmine Guy, Charlotte D'Amboise, Roy Bean.
Ingenue Roxie Hart wishes to become a star, and receives advice from the jaded, vampish Velma Kelly. Well-established noir musical with the orchestra right in centre stage.
Ending: Roxie and Velma make it together with their show-stopping dance number duet.
Best scene: A group of lovely young ladies named The Merry Murderesses, sing about their plots to do away with their cheatin' men, in the raucous number 'He Had It Coming.'

- 2001 -

Cast Away - Who's in it: Tom Hanks, Helen Hunt, Chris Noth.
Federal Expressman Hanks gets stranded alone on a desert island for four long years. His only companion is a volleyball named Wilson, and his hope lies in the form of a locket holding a picture of his fiancee.
Ending: It refuses to answer some important questions, like what was in that FedEx package that Tom didn't open while on that island?
Best scene: The spectacular, yet horrific plane crash that sends Tom to the island in the first place.

Hannibal - Who's in it: Anthony Hopkins, Julianne Moore, Ray Liotta.
The charming Mr. Lecter returns from hiding as he's hunted down by not only Clarice Starling, but an Italian cop and a vengeful, grotesquely disfigured billionaire. More darkly comic than the first movie's outright terror.
Ending: One word: Brains. No, make that two words: Brains, yum!
Best scene: It involves aforementioned billionaire's herd of hungry wild pigs, just waiting to chow down on some human flesh... ugh.

Clerks (1994) - Who's in it: Brian O'Hallaran, Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith.
Convenience store worker Dante endures a full day of customers, annoying customers, girlfriends, ex-girlfriends, egg inspectors(!), and one obnoxious next-door video store clerk. Jay and Silent Bob make their first appearance too. Shot in black and white, with a budget probably close to the catering bill of the movies mentioned above.
Ending: Thankfully, not as dark as the planned original ending. (For more info, visit www.imdb.com and search for 'clerks.')
Best scene: It involves the number 37... a bit too graphic to explain here!

Cabaret (Pantages Theatre, Toronto) - Who's playing the roles: Andrea McArdle, Jon Peterson, Hank Stratton.
American 'starving writer' Cliff Bradshaw comes to Berlin, Germany at its most decadent era. There he discovers the hedonistic Cabaret niteclub, which showcases the British chanteuse Sally Bowles. Cliff and Sally subsequently meet, fall in love, and "life is a cabaret..."
Ending:...until events take a turn for the worse, as the Nazis gradually come into power throughout the land.
Best scene: Torn apart by a loveless relationship and a hasty abortion, an intoxicated Sally belts out a wrenching version of the title song, welling up so much rage that she slams her microphone stand to the floor at the song's climax.

The Mummy Returns - Who's in it: Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, Freddie Boath.
Oh, he returns alright. But the main focus of this FX fest is the now-married Fraser and Weisz searching for their kidnapped son, who holds the key to The Scorpion King. Played by WWF's The Rock, The King bookends the movie with his origin first, then his smackdown-worthy scorpion-ish appearance.
Ending: The first movie's ending was open for a sequel, this one's ending is open for a Prequel! (Guess who its main character is gonna be, you candyass!)
Best scene: Using footage from the beginning of the first movie, it sheds more light on The Mummy's ill-fated girlfriend... and it involves one heck of a catfight!!

Shrek - Who's doing the voices: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, John Lithgow.
The fairytale genre is spoofed, sent-up and turned on its head. An utterly charming, gorgeously computer-animated story of a large, green ogre who falls for the princess he's assigned to rescue. A wise-cracking donkey, a smitten dragon, a king with some uh, 'shortness' issues and a woodland filled with familiar characters populate the landscape.
Ending: It's essentially a fairytale, and thus has a fairytale ending. 'Nuff said.
Best scene: Either the gingerbread man torture scene where he's first dipped in milk, then has his legs broken off, and his buttons almost pulled off. Or the scene where Princess Fiona takes charge and beats up (Matrix-style) a prissy band of Merry Men.

Memento - Who's in it: Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss, Joe Pantoliano.
Lenny, an agent with short-term memory loss, attempts to discover who killed his wife, despite his condition. He ritually tattoos clues on his body, jots down notes and takes polaroid photos, as mementos to remind him of his mission. A riveting murder mystery told with a backwards-running plot, told in segments from finish to start.
Ending: The beginning.
Best scene: Seeing how Lenny prepared to rough up a bad guy, after he roughed him up!

Pearl Harbor - Who's in it: Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale.
Yes, it's about the 1941 bombing, but a love triangle story between two flyboys and a nurse is the three hour-long movie's main focus.
Ending: If you know your 20th century US history, you'll know how the ending should be!
Best scene: You've probably seen it in previews, it's the point-of-view shot of one bomb as it drops from the plane towards the ship.

Moulin Rouge - Who's in it: Ewan McGregor, Nicole Kidman, John Leguizamo.
The curtain opens on the story of a young British writer who comes to Paris, and finds himself falling for someone he shouldn't: a courtesan performer at the fabulous, opulent dancehall/theatre The Moulin Rouge (Red Windmill). A dazzlingly bold musical set in 1899, with the characters belting out tunes to be written about 100 years down the road.
Ending: The curtain closes. And that's about all I can give away.
Best scene: The emcee of The Moulin Rouge lets rip with an audience applause-inducing version of Madonna's 'Like A Virgin'.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence - Who's in it: Haley Joel Osment, Frances O' Connor, Jude Law.
Osment is David, a robot boy who longs to be human, so he can be loved just as much he is programmed to love his new family. What follows is a quest to find The Blue Fairy, a figure from a similar story.
Ending: Director Steven Spielberg gave a previous film (which also had two initials in its title) a very emotional ending. This film follows suit (snif!)
Best scene: Any scene stolen by David's talking teddy bear, or a smooth-talking tagalong robot named Gigolo Joe.

Scary Movie 2 - Who's in it: Anna Faris, Kathleen Robertson, Natasha Lyonne.
The Haunting/House on Haunted Hill movies get spoofed in this envelope-pushing spoof sequel. Kinda makes you wonder if they'll bother making a second spoof sequel.
Ending: A selection of behind-the-scenes photos appears during the main end credits.
Best scene: The hilarious Exorcist spoof at the start of the movie. (It's not just the possessed girl who barfs in this version!)

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within - Who's doing the voices: Ming-Na, Alec Baldwin, Donald Sutherland.
A photo-realistically computer animated sci-fi tale set in the near future. The fate of the Earth's spirit, Gaia, lies in the hands of a woman, a scientist, and a team of soldiers. Related to the popular sword and sorcery video game series in name only.
Ending: Is Gaia saved? But more importantly, should real-life actors worry about being replaced by virtual actors?
Best scene: Our CGI heroine Aki has these very surreal recurring dreams... and we get to see them!

Jurassic Park III - Who's in it: Sam Neill, William H. Macy, Tea Leoni.
The plot to come.
Ending:
Best scene:

American Pie 2 - Who's in it: Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott.
The plot to come.
Ending:
Best scene:

Lost And Delirious - Who's in it: Piper Perabo, Jessica Pare, Mischa Barton.
The plot to come.
Ending:
Best scene:

Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back - Who's in it: Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith, and the characters of Kevin's 'Askewniverse.'
The plot to come.
Ending:
Best scene:

Planet Of The Apes - Who's in it: Mark Wahlberg, Helena Bonham-Carter, Tim Roth.
The plot to come.
Ending:
Best scene:

Monty Python And The Holy Grail - Who's in it: Those loonies in the medieval outfits with coconuts instead of actual horses. Also: Neil Innes, Carol Cleveland.
The plot to come.
Ending:
Best scene:

Mulholland Drive - Who's in it: Laura Elena Harring, Naomi Watts, Justin Theroux.
The plot to come.
Ending:
Best scene:

Monsters Inc. - Who's doing the voices: John Goodman, Billy Crystal, Steve Buscemi.
The plot to come.
Ending:
Best scene:

The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring - Who's in it: Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen.
The plot to come.
Ending:
Best scene:
