Summary
In the Austrian capital of Vienna, a bomb blast has killed a Russian Bureaucrat. With the help of Police Dog Rex, Homicide Inspector Moser catches the bomber but not before Rex's Trainer is shot and killed. The recently divorced Moser finds himself drawn to the grieving dog but he has other problems to deal with - he must find out why the Russian was killed before there are any more deaths in the city of Vienna.

The good
This is a good introductory episode. Since the characters have to be introduced, it takes a while for the action to start but it is worth waiting for. Performances were good by all the actors but especially by Moretti (Moser) and Hoerbiger (Werner). It’s obvious that the three detectives have a great relationship with each other and Rex. This episode is so important to understanding the rest of the series, I have written a story based on this episode for those who missed it.

The bad
I’m not sure about Austrian law but I think Moser searched the premises without permission. Also, I think that there should have been more information given about Rex’s Trainer. He dies in the first fifteen minutes but was obviously very important to Rex. We don’t even find out his last name, he’s just ‘Michael’. Moser, on the other hand, seems quite determined to describe his life story.

Disclaimer : Kommissar Rex is owned by Mungo film, Tauris film, SAT.1 and ORF and was created by Peter Hajek and Peter Moser. None of the characters, actors or photographs belong to me, unfortunately. I'm just borrowing them, having a bit of fun and then returning them more or less unharmed.
