The Birthing Process

If both of the babies are in head-down position,
it is possible to have vaginal delivery.
Siamese twins rarely occur because the chances of
having Siamese twins are about 1 per 100,000
births. Through prenatal unltrasound conjoined
twins can be identified. Identical twins have a
somewhat higher risk of having birth defects.
Examining the placenta can determine whether the
twins are identical or fraternal.
A pediatrician or family doctor to ensure there
are no birth defects present will carefully
examine the twins. Blood counts will be checked if
one twin is significantly larger than the other.
In some cases, one monozygotic twin transfers more
than enough blood to the other, and as a result
leaves the first twin anemic and small and the
second reddish and large. Because of the crowding
in a womb twins may have bowed legs or bent
ankles. Problems like these usually disappear
completely as the twins get older
