AVM is just a collection of abnormal blood vessels. Usually need treatment if the occur in the head. Because of the risk of bleeding. I have seen AVM so large that the patient was refused any treatment and did live well. The large AVM filled both hemispheres of the brain and large vessels were seen outside in the scalp too!

Not all AVM need to be treated. A pure venous AVM can be left alone.
