Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6 Day 7

Hello there, reader. So nice of you to pop in and read about my trip to Southern California! I will be trying to describe all parts of this trip day-by-day, with lots of detail, and many pictures. So sit back and enjoy!

A day at the beach. That is what Day 6 was all about. See, I don't live near an ocean, so I don't get to play in the sand much or swim in the ocean. Sure, I have a pool, but as you all know, it's just not the same. I love playing in the sand. My favorite thing to do is quite simple: dig a hole. No one's going to tell you that you can only dig so far or that it's wasting sand or anything because the beach is miles long! It's as long as the coast of California for heaven's sake!

My father and I packed up our swimsuits, towels, sun block, and of course, my camera and headed out to the beach. The trip took maybe about 10-20 minutes. Not long. Unfortunately, we had to pay to park at the beach. It was only a dollar an hour though. Geez. Everything has a price now. Everyone has to make money off of everything somehow. (Pardon the little rant.) Anyway, when we got to the beach, we went to a nice isolated spot in between two rock formations. My dad put on the sun block and started to relax while I started my mission: dig a hole. I dug and dug and dug and dug and dug and dug and--*SLAP* Whew! I needed that. ^_^ I dug down so it was as deep as my mid-thighs and then found a rock. I tried to dig it out, but found that it was much larger and was made up of many other rocks. Then I realized that it was one of the rock formations on either side of the place we were at. The formation continued down underneath the sand. See, over time, sand had washed up on the shore from the ocean and surrounding areas and buried the rock completely. So...I dug another hole right next to the first one. When that got down to a certain level, I realized I could not bend over to keep digging because the area I was working in was not big enough. So...I dug a third hole! Once that got down to the same level, so my unpleasant surprise I found more of the rock the hard way. When I put my hand down to scrape up the next bunch of sand, I scraped right underneath one of my finger nails. Have you ever done that? It's not fun. It still hurts today!

Then, I stepped wrong and scraped open a wound I had on my big toe when I went swimming a couple weeks ago. It was just about completely healed when I did this and when I scraped it, I thought, Dang! I knew something like this was going to happen! Great. Luckily, my dad was smart enough to bring a first aid kit. We wrapped my toe up tight with special bandaging and I went back to digging. Heh heh. Nothing can keep me from digging!

Rock made out of sand Dig, dig, dig
If you faced the ocean and then looked to the right, this is what you would see from where we were sitting. Odd formation, but it looks cool. I told you I was digging a hole. Didn't believe me? This was the first hole. Recognize the shirt, Myst fans? Yep. It's the Mysterium t-shirt!
Took me five minutes, honest! Mmmm...algae
Still working on the first hole. My dad took this shot and all the others since my hands were full of sand. That's some green algae, don't you think?
Dig, dig, dig, dig Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!
After I dug the second hole and almost done with the third. This was just before I scraped that toe of mine. After I was all bandaged up, I was back in the hole and dug it so deep that it was up to my neck! Okay, not really. I'm just kneeling in this picture. But it looks like it doesn't it?
Don't trip now Doggy paddle, anyone?
It was a challenge to get in and out of that hole without the sides caving in. Just playing. Not sure what I was doing here.

One of the beach patrols came by and informed us that the tide was coming in, so I figured I should fill up the hole with sand. Plus it was pretty much time to leave anyway. So I filled it up, but not without having a bit of fun first! If you dig a hole, you simply must bury yourself in it, right? ^_^

Feel the blood throbbing through your veins Not the Mysterium t-shirt!
Now I told you that I didn't dig it deep enough to be covered up to my neck. I'm just kneeling in this picture. See how far the waves were coming up? Another view of me. Imagine how cool it would have been if the hole had been closer to the beach and if it had filled up with water! A nice little whirlpool!

After I struggled to get out of the hole, it was time go to home and pack up for the next day which was when we came home.

That's all for Day 6!
