Garvey Call

Brian Garvey and I went to visit Tom, Brent, Garrett, and Chris at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio one friday night. We all went to see 8 Mile with Frank, Krissy, Jess, and Jory. We had a celebration afterwards. The Dan Majerle Dream Team Jersey was being exhibited. "You Can Call Me Al" was to be downloaded to every computer seen that night. Brian and I got to two computers before he needed to make a phone call. To make this call, he walked to my car, about five-hundred feet away, in the snowy weather, with nothing more that a shirt and pants on. He had an extended conversation with a certain Liz that lasted about an hour or two. He was not in the best of shape, but we knew that he had Garrett's number if he wanted to get back inside. However, he bluntly stated, "I'm just going to sleep in your car." I made sure he realized what he said and walked back in the dorm. I checked on him again, and he was insistent that he was sleeping there. It was cold, and that was the last time I could trudge through the snow to talk to him. I went to sleep at 530 AM, not caring about him. Little did we know that his cell phone battery went dead, so he could not get anyone to open the door. He tried throwing sticks at the window, but it was of no use. He went back to "Blue Thunder" and tried to sleep. I woke up at 11 and went to my car so see a kid freezing his bezeebers off. He told me how he tried to get back in but couldnt. He was visibly chilled, and the only thing keeping him alive was the sweater of his he discovered at 830 am. I dropped him off, and went to work. On Monday, my father told me that he was taked to the hospital with frostbite in two of his toes. I was horrified. But it turns out he was joking, and that Brian's father as well as mine thought it was one of the funiiest things ever to happen. To this day, every time we go to Carroll, Brian's parents tell him not to bring his cellular phone.
