Shoran is a foreign- exchange student from Hong Kong. He first appears in volume 2 of the manga and in episode 7 (?) of the anime. When he arrives he tells Sakura that he's looking for the Clow Cards and to give home the ones she has. Fortunately Touya comes to Sakura’s rescue. Touya holds a grudge against Shoran and does not like him being in Sakura’s presence. Touya and Kero-chan both have a tendency to refer to him as “the kid,” “brat,” or other demeaning terms. Although Shoran hardly smiles, he blushes A LOT. He blushes whenever he's in Yukito's presence. (He does eventually get over this though.) Sayoran is a descendent of Clow Reed. His family all has magical powers (with the exemption of his cousin/fiancé Meiling) His Father passed away when he was young and all of his family resides in Hong Kong. In the manga he lives by himself, in the anime Wei, a family servant who has known him since he was little looks after him. Also in the anime his cousin Meiling catches up to him and stays with him for a while.

In the first movie his mother and 4 older sisters make a brief appearance, but they are never seen in the manga.

In the English version it is said that Li admires Julian and he comes off a bit more “bratty” in the opinion of some fans.

Xiolan, Shoran, Sholan and Syaran which is correct?

There are no L's in Japanese the closest sound they have is R. Syaran/Shoran/Sholan's name is often written with an R because that's what it sounds like, His Chinese name is spelled w/ an L (Xiolang is his name in Romanized Chinese) and "Sholan" is often written in subtitles and such. however it is romanized (written in English letters) in the Japanese manga on a bookmark as "Syaran." I spell it "Shoran" Out of habit. Just know that they are the same person. His name translated means “little wolf.” *Kawaiiiii!*

Why does Shoran blush whenever he sees Yukito?
*spoilers*

Allthough I’m not sure if it’s ever stated it words, (I own the Japanese manga but my Japanese is minimal) it's one of two things: Shoran either has a crush on Yukito, or senses Yukito's power and is attracted to it, not Yukito himself.(I prefer the 2nd theory)
