Kayura was born in the Ancient's village and was destined to inherit the powers of the Ancient One one day so she can take his place and he can leave the mortal realm. Unfortunately, Talpa attacked and destroyed the village, leaving only Kayura and the Ancient alive. According to others, Kayura was kidnapped by Talpa when the village was attacked, then through Badamon, Talpa brainwashed her and used her powers for himself. The way I see it, if we look back at the flashback she had after Ryo chopped off her amulet (episode #37), there was a scene where she was fighting Talpa with her starlight swords; so, I think Talpa didn't actually capture her at the age of 8 when he attacked. I think Kayura somehow escaped, mastered her skills in fighting for a few years, and went into the nether realm seeking Talpa for revenge, and that is when she got captured and brainwashed.

Official information released saying Kayura is phsically 12, I don't know about you guys but I definitely say she is at least physically 16. I mean, look at her, does she look 12 to you??? In any case, according to Nina's FAQ page, Talpa's nether realm has a time distortion of 1:100 (meaning 1 year in the nether realm is equal to 100 years in the human world), which is why Kayura only aged 4 years (400 years) since Talpa captured her (boy, I want to live in the nether realm).

Now about Kayura's attacks, she has a bunch of special attacks compare to the Ronins or Warlords who use the same one over and over again. Her main attack is the "Starswords Scream", where she waves her two swords up and down and two columns of water reach up into the sky. Then five stars appear and shoot down individual star beams that would close in on the target. Another version of the "Starswords Scream" is the one not involving the water. She just flips her swords pointing towards her, criscross them and then twirls them in the air forming broken circles of light. Then she jumps into the air with the spinning swords and direct the beams emitted at the enemy. She can choose two kinds of beams emitted from the swords of this attack, either the one that would strike down an enemy (very simple), or the kind that reflects off surfaces and whatever is hit gets "melted" (cool huh?). Her secondary attacks don't have names but I'll try to explain them the best I could. There's the one where she crosses her arms (right arm pointing left and up, left arm pointing right and down) and then uncrosses them (right arm pointing up and right, left arm pointing left and down) and a wave of sparkling energy hits the target and paralyzes it (she used this attack on Rowen the first time). Then there's the one where she crosses the tip of her swords high up and a beam of lightning strikes across the "cross" (oi, I'm really repeating myself), then she uncrosses her swords (again) and swings them back and forth while a sparkling, white beam of energy swings behind her and travels forward towards the enemy. Another one is where she just stands there for a second or two and then suddenly points her swords away from each other and a gust of wind and flower petals fly towards the target. I don't think this is really an attack, it's more like a move telling the enemy (usu. Ryo & Rowen, or the Warlords) that "I'm ready to kill you!"

In the manga version, Kayura was said to hold the virtue of "love", a lot of people don't like this idea but I'm perfectly fine with it, even though I think she will never fall in love but would still attract a bunch of guys (i.e. Rowen ^_^).

According to Nina's FAQ page, the last time Kayura appeared in the official story was in Volume 1 of the Cassette Book Collection where she chased "Talpa's residue" (something like Talpa's presence despite he's dead) from the nether realm into the human world. She defeated "Talpa's residue" with the help of Ryo, Kento (I think, I'll check up on this on my first update) and Rowen.
