How To Universe Test Site
We are keeping this site up for a while for testing purposes
only.
How To
Universe is
a how to resource and directory which allows users to find the
information they are looking for without scrolling through pages of
irrelevant search results. It's a way for providers of good How To
information to get "top billing" even if they are number 5000
on the search engine results.
Facts:
- More than 80% of the Web is not being
properly indexed by the search engines.
- Most sites are too far down in the
listings to be of any value.
- Most popular, most visited, does not
necessarily indicate best quality. Rather it often only reflects a
large advertising budget.
What's New:
- We've added a bingo game for our
visitors. Take a break, invite a few friend to join in and chat
about your How Tos or ... Good Luck!
- Lots more How Tos added in all
categories.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to provide excellent How To information and to help our contributors to become
noticed and successful on the web. We know how much work and devotion it
takes to create a good How To website, especially for those of you who
like us, don't have mega bucks for paying for top spots on search
engines and fancy mass media advertising campaigns. We are going to get
very creative here with promotional ideas. Our success increases your
success.
To begin with start spreading the
word. Let fellow webmasters know about this site so they can be listed.
Let your visitors know they can come here for other How Tos. The more
people that find How To Universe, the more people will find your article
and/or link.
Do link to us. In future we
will provide graphics for links for those wanting them but a text link
will do nicely for now. This is not required, but is appreciated.
Our articles will highlight and
draw attention to the sites of our submitters. As we succeed and
increase our income from our affiliates etc. we will invest in more
advertising and promotion. This will attract investors. The positive
effects will filter down to you.
Other Stuff
Check around and see the How Tos that
have already been posted here. Barring server problems, there should be
something new each day. Our webmaster (meaning me) is staying up
all night to do it.
On the Article Submission page I've
added some links to a few writing How Tos and other helpful stuff.
There are several excellent How To
Articles on various website promotion topics that we thought would be
useful to website owners who are visiting. You'll see them listed in the
Computers & Internet index by clicking the button on the left
navigation bar..
I've been
discovering some tips and tricks for How To edit a FrontPage 2000 web at
Angelfire. Although there is always the alternative of using their html
editor, FrontPage's WYSIWYG interface is so much easier, that it's worth
working around some of the problems. I will be posting these soon.

We have placed this site
here to test out some ideas and allow others to submit their links
and articles to
our database.
The only How Tos we
will be posting here will be those submitted by webmasters, a few to
help people with their article writing, some good internet business and
site promotion
advice, a few example How Tos and specially requested How Tos. If there is a
How To you need you
can e-mail me and if it's in our
database I'll post it for you or email it to you. Just ask.
The buttons on the left reflect some of the
possible categories we plan to include. If
you have a great How To to contribute to ANY category follow
the links on the top navigation bar.
Submissions will be
reviewed within 3 days and those that are approved will be added to these
pages within 5 days. (This policy may have to change in the future,
depending on traffic)
You have the
option to choose to wait to be listed until we move to our own banner ad
and pop-up ad free site early in 2001. Keep that in mind when linking to
specific articles. I plan to put redirects on all pages when we move so
you can update your links at that time.
The design of
the site will undergo a number of changes when we move. A site search
engine will be added to all the pages, categories will be streamlined
and indexes will be upgraded.
