Diablo's an ancient unit. Activated after Mega Man's 'bout against King, when 'Self-thinking' robot technology was first created. In secret, Dr. Light aided Diablo's creator, one Dr. Malkovich, by supplying him with the blueprints to Mega Man X's advanced processor.
Dr Malkovich used the blueprints to fashion, and test, his own processor, having seen a few minor flaws in Dr. Light's designs. Having successfully completed the tests, using his lab supercomputer, he put the new processor into the robot he had been designing for years and years upon end, the unit he called "Diablo." He was equipped with -past- state of the art weapons, scanning equipment and armor, something Malkovich never saw with Dr. Light's or Dr. Wily's robots. (This was at the time, remember.)
Anyway, Dr. M (As we'll all him) put the processor into Diablo, and set the activation sequence for 30 days, versus Dr. Light's thirty years. Within 30 days, Diablo awoke to a destroyed lab, and a dead creator. Something had bombed it to shreds, killing the good doctor. Diablo made his way out of the ruins, sought repairs for what nicks he had and set out to find the killer.
Unfortunately, the killer ended up being captured and imprisoned for an indefinite amount of time, leaving Diablo purpose-less until the Hunters were formed. He decided to put what he had to good use, after much deliberation. Through training and missions, he improved himself to where he is now. Commander.

| Weaknesses |
A weakness to Diablo is he cannot detect, nor counter Energis attacks. In some cases, the Energis themselves go un-noticed by Diablo.
Another weakness he has is extreme cold. His systems simply cannot cope with anything past -40 degrees Celsius. (-40 Farenheit too. Sorry about the spelling) Anything past that, spare 2 degrees, he ceases to function until warmed up.
