Until the Dawn

I am the moth that circles the candle, lit late at night to drive away the darkness.

The candle so pure so rich so beautiful with its inner light it draws me close.

I know in my heart that if I come to close before the dawn’s light extinguishes the candle that the flame from the candle will hurt me and still my beating heart.

I know the candles flame does not want to harm me it is only its nature just as it is mine to be drawn to the candle

If only I can outlast the darkness resisting the pull of something that is so powerful.

In the dawn when the flame is extinguished I can touch the candle without it hurting me.

If only I can last the night until the dawn when all things begin anew.
