Ristorante Italiano Pizzeria Da Claudio - Kamares

Restaurant along the quay of Kamares. There are different types of house wine, pizzas, pastas and salads. The woman who brings us the menu and picks up our order, Monica, is very nice and has a good sense of humor. The wine is very tasty and besides the bread we get all sorts of cute little appetisers, such as olives, a delicious spicy cheese and a kind of breadsticks. I order a pizza tuna and my friend has the pasta with mushrooms and truffles. The pasta is okay, the pizza too, but I must say I find it a bit of a Greek pizza, with lots of cheese (as the Greeks do), and there is not much tuna. With more tomato sauce and tuna it would have been more Italian style, and the people who work here are after all Italians. At the end we get a nice set of bottles in a basket, with grappa, limonchello (or something like that, a lemon liqueur, very tasty) and a type of berry liqueur.

Our verdict: good, an 8 out of 10

Gorgona Restaurant - Faros

This restaurant is located on the beach of Faros, in the south of the island of Sifnos. We sit down but actually immediately get a feeling that they would rather be rid of us. The menu includes chicken, meat, fish, spagetthi, various salads and entrees. We ordered a salad and both take a chicken souvlaki. Despite its quiet we have to wait very long before our chicken is put on the table. Fortunately in the meantime there is wine and the Greek music that is played is very nice. The chicken is tender and the fries are crispy. If we ask for the bill we don't get offered a small dessert or a drink on the house, as is customary in Greece. Yet we give a tip because we don't intend to be equally unfriendly.

Our verdict: the food is good, but the service unfriendly, such a shame, a 7 out of 10
