"Good things come to those who wait."---Greldum Drobe, captain of the White Rhino's military corps, addressing his young apprentice.

Frozen Falls

Frozen Falls is a gigantic waterfall. It is over 400 feet tall and is easily 100 feet wide. Many jagged rocks protruded from the cliff and pierce the falling water. At the bottom of the falls is a rocky death trap. Anyone falling over the falls is surely going to die. Even those who fall into to the water at the bottom of the falls has a good chance of drowning. The force of the waterfall is enough to push any unlucky people to the bottom of the river.

The naming of the falls is for it’s interesting characteristic. Every day, at around noon, the water is magically suspended in it’s fall, being encased in solid ice from top to bottom. It stays this way for about three hours or so when it melts in a matter of seconds and continues it’s decent. legend has it that a mage plummeted to his death when he fell into the Great Mirrored River and plunged over the falls. The story says that he was fighting a terrible beast near the river. During the great battle, he was knocked into the river by the creature and he could not free himself from the current. People are unsure as to what the wizard did to the falls in his dying breath, but they say that the wizard is the reason for the strange magical waterfall that suspends itself in midair everyday.

People do not fear the falls. They do not look at it as a cursed place. They see it as a magical wonder. Once year, the local settlements in the Forever Winter Vale hold a competition. It is extremely dangerous and involves the best ice climbers from around the valley to scale the frozen falls during the three hour period. The competitors take numerous safety precautions such as strapping themselves into harnesses. This competition has great risk but those who participate are revered throughout the valley. The first climber to reach the top wins the Competition. The victor gets to have the honorary ice climbers hat for one year. The winner of the competition for the last four years is a human woman named Tinathia Herglaba of the village Dun Varna. Afterwards, a large festival is held with dancing music and socializing. This is one of the only times of the year that the valley settlements interact with one another.

Making it’s lair behind the waterfall is a colony of Leatherback Gromlicks. Nobody in the valley is aware of the lair. These creatures have been terrorizing the valley for centuries. They do not hunt the people of the valley, but every once in awhile, these fearsome beasts attack a valley person or two.
