Thing were pretty similar for teenagers, back in the Fifties and Sixties, as they are for teenagers now. We have the same basic items on our agendas, just different details. Back then according to the person I interviewed, most people started driving at the age of sixteen. Some would go to the carhop or to the local drive-in, for a date or just to have fun with your friends. The carhop was the little restaurant, which the waitress would bring the food and hook it to the window. Many people worked, especially during the summer. Some people would go to the Lake and water ski or do some form of boating, others would stay and work. Television wasn’t as big as it is now, the TV stations would only broadcast from 4pm to 11pm. When school was in session we could expect a minimum of two hours of homework per night. There were many differences, but there are some similarities, every one just wants to have fun.
