Nelly - Biography

Nelly was born with the name Cornell Hawnes .Jr. He grew up in St. Louis and experienced rough street life there. He got away from it all when he was a teenager and moved with his mother to a near by University City. There, he started to make the most of his life. He started to play baseball and tell stories and even more important, he started writing ryhmes.

He had made friends from High School and formed a band. The name of the band was of course, the St. Lunatics. They scored a smash hit in 1996 with there self made song "Gimme What You Got". The group tried hard to get signed to a Record Label. They decided that Nelly would have a better chance on his own at getting a record deal becuase of his excellent rhyming skills. The group were right, soon enough Nelly was seen by Universal and now he's released his debut Album "Counrty Grammer" From last year (2000).
