Gardening and Deer

It's great living out in the country, away from the city lights. One of the negatives of living out in the country is trying to grow plants that deer will not call their own. Deer are great to look at but they can make it frustrating to grow anything---you can't blame them--that fresh green growth is hard to ignore. Below is a list of some trees, flowers and shrubs that for the most part, deer will stay away from or will at least eat last. Good luck---It comes down to a really tall fence--:)--Chuck


Fencing is the way to go if you want to grow vegi's and you live in deer country. The fence should be at least 6ft, with 8ft being better. You can also put several lines of fence around your garden, that are shorter in height, with 2-3 ft in between them. The deer are not going to want to jump into a small area.
