Mrs. Omie Orr: Services for Mrs. Omie Orr, 87, of 1915 Old Spartanburg Rd., who
died early Thursday in the home of a son, Ossie J. Orr of East Flat Rock, will
be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Thomas Sheppherd Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Dan
Willis and the Rev. George Roberts will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant
Hill Cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers. Surviving in addition to the son
are a sister, Mrs. W. W. Redden of Hendersonville; two brothers, William P. and
Robert Fisher of Hendersonville; six grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm tonight in
the funeral home.

Notes:
Matthew served in the Revolutinary War.
Matthew's father Abraham served in the Revolution as a Corp. under Capt. Cobron
in the Anson Milita during 1750. He later became Captain of his own Company in
1770. He was commisioned to establish the Tryon county line and to build a
courthouse. He held positions to levy taxes, became Justice of the Peace, and
served on the Public Safety Committee. He received land grants in Buncombe Co.
1792, this 640 acres later became Flat Rock and he gave the land for Mudd Creek
Baptist Church and cemetery.
