Design, develop, and direct programs and initiatives in records management, web site development, automated systems, imaging, document development and conversion, and related areas for state agency in Ohio. Coordinate activities with various offices and external organizations and agencies.

1999-2001 State Refugee Services Administrator for Ohio. Planned, directed, and coordinated programs providing services for refugees and immigrants in Ohio. Developed policies and practices at state level. Reviewed and evaluated program operations in funded private and government agencies. Developed and acquired resources for program expansion and enhancement.

1997-1999 Administrator, Communications and Online Systems, State Agency. Designed, developed, and directed statewide Internet, Intranet, World Wide Web, telecommunications, and general communications systems for program areas. Analyzed, planned, and directed video and audio communications technology.

1994-1997 Chief, Research and Grants, State Agency. Directed comprehensive statewide development program. Conducted research and consultation on funding patterns, sources, and opportunities. Managed and conducted training in fund raising, grant writing, and general development. Acted as liaison with state and national foundations, corporation, public and private agencies. Supervised and conducted strategic planning, quantitative and qualitative research projects.

1991-1994 Executive Director, Ohio Children’s Trust Fund. Statewide child abuse prevention funding agency. Chief executive and management officer. Developed statewide policies and programs. Administered grant programs competitively distributing over three million dollars annually to over two hundred grantees. Managed all aspects of strategic planning; priority setting; timetable, goal, budget, and evaluation design and implementation; training and technical assistance; fund raising and development. Acted as liaison with legislators, national organizations, news media, and the general public.

1986-1991 Social Program Developer, State Agency. Researched funding sources, developed and prepared grant proposals. Coordinated statewide programs, conducted needs assessments and evaluations.

Executive Director of international (seven countries) nonprofit animal welfare and protection organization. Chief administrative and management officer. Extensive, highly successful fund raising, including planned giving, direct mail, annual and capital campaigns, major gifts, grant acquisition. Conducted and managed strategic planning, developed policies and procedures. Organized large public events and expositions. Worked with numerous actors and entertainers, legislators, religious and business leaders.

 

1978-1983 East Tennessee State University

Assistant Professor of English. Engaged in teaching, research and writing, program and curriculum development, administration. Prepared and managed grants from federal, state, and private sources.
