One of My Favorite Television Shows...

"Ellen"

The Cast: I've enjoyed watching Ellen since the original show staring Degeneres first aired in 1995. It was called "These Friends of Mine," and it eventually evolved into today's "Ellen."

I've always found Ellen's comedy to be nothing but hysterical, and that is why I followed the show throughout all of it's seasons. I was amazed when I found out that Ellen Morgan was going to come out shortly after the real Ellen... Ellen Degeneres came out on the cover of TIME Magazine saying, "Yep, I'm Gay!"

This was a major milestone in television. Shortly after I found out that Ellen Morgan was going to come out, I heard about a party that GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, was going to host in New York City the night of the first airing of the"Puppy Episode." It was called the COME OUT WITH ELLEN PARTY!, and it was a benefit for GLAAD.

The event was produced by Chip Duckett and local sponsors included: HAVE A NICE PARTY, the Advocate, HX Magazine, and Absolut Vodka. It was held at New York's IRVING PLAZA BALLROOM, April 30, 1996 from 7-10 pm. The cost per ticket for the event included a $20 donation, with an optional $75 golden circle seating (which included prime seating and 1 1/2 hour "Absolut Vodka" open bar)

There were Autographed Ellen Memorabilia Drawings! and a bunch of other stuff as well as cool "Ellen" give-a-ways. the night also included Music, and a Letter-Writing Booth to save "Ellen."

Co-stars Joely Fisher and Clea Lewis showed up to what proved to be a very emotional night for all in attendance. ***Pictures from the evening will be available shortly.***
