New York native, Amy Faith Lionheart is a professional grant writer/fundraiser, community educator, special events coordinator, publicist, and freelance writer.

Over the past few years, Lionheart has worked with the American Cancer Society, as a Director of Breast Health Programs, as well as the American Diabetes Association’s New York City District Manager.

Throughout her position as Director of Breast Health Programs, Lionheart managed a team of staff, interns, and volunteers. She oversaw the work of eleven major partners through the Queens Breast Health Partnership, and wrote and managed grants totaling over $200,000. One such grant was the Susan G. Komen Foundation Grant covering the salaries of four outreach workers each specializing in a different ethnicity. This ensured that low/no-income women in Queens could receive proper care and treatment in their own languages. Some of the languages included Hindi, Urdu, Chinese, Spanish, and French. Lionheart wrote and designed several non-profit flyers, brochures and newsletters for the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association.

She has produced American Diabetes Month’s: World’s Largest Block Party, as well as fundraise for Rose Day, a pre-sale of roses for Mother’s Day to raise much needed dollars to help in the battle against diabetes. In addition, Lionheart has helped to foster a ‘Community Diabetes Initiative’ or ‘Outreach, Education, and Advocacy Campaign’ in the five boroughs of NYC, helping to form partnerships with community leaders, health educators, medical communities, and corporations in efforts to bring awareness to communities about diabetes. She has worked on programs such as the ADA’s African American Program (Diabetes Sunday), and Diabetes Assistance & Resource Program (DAR). The Diabetes Assistance and Resources Program, or DAR, is a proactive multifaceted program, which targets the Latino community. DAR, which means ‘to give” in Spanish does just that; gives valuable diabetes information in English and Spanish to the Latino community.

Prior to her time with ADA, Lionheart worked with Teach for America, a nationwide nonprofit organization helping to match college graduates with children in under-privileged/under-represented neighborhoods across the country in efforts to bring teachers into areas where they were desperately understaffed, and overloaded with students. The mission of TFA is to one day, educate all children. Each year, over 1,000 corps members reach more than 10,000 students at thirteen locations across the country.

Lionheart has also been and still remains to be, a freelance writer specializing in music, entertainment, non-profit, and women’s news. She has also participated in the education of youth as the New York Volunteer Coordinator for Rock the Vote, a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting freedom of speech, educating young people about the issues that affect them, and motivating young people to participate by registering, voting, and speaking out.

Lionheart has always remained dedicated to the causes which she believes in. She has volunteered for many non-profit organizations in the past ten years, donating time to aid others. One of which has been the AIDS epidemic. She has worked with several AIDS related organizations including LIFEbeat, the Music Industry Organization to Fight AIDS, God's Love We Deliver, and GMHC.

Her articles are published nationally in several music and entertainment magazines, and on the web. She was fortunate enough to interview celebrities like Whitney Houston, Sarah McLaughlin, Missy Eliott, Deborah Gibson, and many others.

Lionheart embodies the true meaning of dedication and hard work. She is an inspiration to others, and she enables dreams to become reality. She believes that, “Together we can make a difference!”
