American Cancer Society
Position: Director of Breast Health/Director of the Queens Breast Health Partnership
Dates: July '00-April '01
Responsibilities:
Supervise a team of five ethnic outreach staff, one partnership coordinator, and a data manager. Work with diverse communities in Queens to screen over 1700 women for breast cancer. Direct eleven healthcare providers through a NYDOH-funded program. Produce monthly partnership meetings as well as reports to partners and regional executive. Write and manage grants equaling over $250,000. Create and edit the Queens Region Update Newsletter and a Latino outreach newsletter.

Position: New York City District Manager

Responsibilities:
Cultivate corporate sponsorship for special events, education, outreach and advocacy campaign. Head up major NYC campaign for American Diabetes Month. Create monthly newsletter, invitations, and other promotional materials. Create, manage, and budget programs like the World’s Largest Block Party, ADM, Starfest, and Tour De Cure. Report to Area Executive Director and communicate with national staff. Work with key individuals within the NY community to form a grassroots diabetes initiative.

Serve as a liaison between the community and the press, as well as the NY Nightlife Association, a coalition of over 50 clubs. Recruit, train, and supervise local volunteers. Develop relationships and provide voter registration materials to community based organizations. Record celebrity radio PSAs.
