"Twice As Nice"
Words We Should Say More Often
written by:
Susan Ungaro
Lose weight. Exercise more. Clean garage. Learn Spanish.
Every new year most of us begin January making resolutions that are often tough to keep. But I think we should at least get credit for our good intentions! After all deciding what we really want is half the battle to achieving our goals. This year I've decided to ring in the new with a commitment to some personal words to live by. Many of them are simple two-word sentences that convey feelings for and gratitude to people who are so much part of my life. I believe just expressing the simple sentiments more often will make 2002 sweeter and more meaningful. I trust happier days are ahead of us.
I'm sorry.
Why is it that some people find these healing words so difficult to utter? I've learned love always means having to say you're sorry!
Thank you.
Good manners move mountains. I truly believe that sharing my gratitude with people who make my life better is the best way to give thanks.
Love you.
Never say goodbye or good-night to your husband, child, mother, father, dear friends without making sure they've heard or felt your "love you" message.
Good job!
These words are music to an employee's or colleague's ear. Since praise for work well done is the best motivator (a raise is also nice).
Help me.
No woman is an island. Asking someone for help is actually a sincere compliment. It made her feel needed and you feel safe.
You're special.
We all want to feel exceptional at something. Use every opportunity you have to tell friends, family and co-workers what makes them important to you.
Kiss me. Hug me. Hold my hand.
Sometimes you just have to say what you need and simply do it. There can never be too many signs of affection in this world!
I will.
Say it when you really mean it (so you won't have to say you're sorry). I think decisive people make the world go round. And don't be timid about saying I won't.
