Some questions to think about while you read:

Volume One, Chapters 1-14
Relationships - analyze the differences between the two couples (Jane/Bingley & Elizabeth/Darcy)
Irony reveals character. What is ironic in the chapters? What does it reveal about the characters?
Examine the love triangle between Darcy, Elizabeth and Caroline. What are each character's feelings? Are they reciprocated?

Volume One, Chapters 15-23
Assess the characters of Mr. Collins and Mr. Wickham. Give at least 3 different opinions of each character.
Analyze both of Mr. Collins marriage proposals. Discuss the reactions of Elizabeth and Charlotte.

Volume Two, Chapters 1-10
Marriage: the role of social class and money.
Compare the discrepency between what is said and what is meant in the conversations Lady Catherine has with her guests.
Elizabeth's prejudice begins to break down. How and why?

Volume Two, Chapters 11-19
The Bennet family - what are the faults that Elizabeth now finds inherent in her family?
What are the moments of excitement and anticipation? the rise and fall in action? Do they build or destroy hope?

Volume Three, Chapters 1-8
Analyze the necessary components of a succesful marriage based on the examples so far.
What conclusions can be drawn about letter writing in general? What do the letters in chapters 6-9 reveal about Lydia's marriage?

Volume Three, Chapters 9-19
Elizabeth and Darcy - he loves me, he loves me not. What are reasons that Lizzy thinks Darcy may still be interested and reasons she fears he is not interested?
Review how the themes of the novel are revealed.
