Where Champions Work
Alamar farm is situated in the scenic countryside of Van Alstyne, TX. The house and kennel sit on top of a hill overlooking a lush green pasture where cattle, sheep, and llamas graze. Wildlife can often be seen crossing the field and can be observed from the front porch.
We are Alan and Marie Koebke, owners and trainers of Alamar Border Collies and Alamar Australian Shepherds. Although our emphasis is herding, Alamar dogs do many different things. We have competed in Agility, Obedience, Herding, Conformation, and our dogs have been seen on TV and in journal advertisements. We trained and owned the first and only Bassett Hound to have ever achieved a USDAA agility title, and we trained the first pug to ever compete in agility. We have an extensive board and train program for basic obedience and also for stockdog training.
Herding is the most important criteria in our breeding program as well as health and temperament. Our Border Collies and Australian Shepherds are worked almost daily and their working ability is assessed on a regular basis. Although we show in conformation shows as well, our first emphasis is on working ability. Alamar is dedicated to preserving the working ability of the American Working Border Collie. We are also committed to maintaining the good temperament, dependability, stock sense, working ability and usefulness of the Australian Shepherd.
Please look over our site and feel free to write or call with questions. We love to talk about our babies!!
