Eastern Kentucky coach Chrissy Roberts started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. Jalen O’Bannon, 5-10 Sr. Shameekia Murray, 6-1 Sr. Miranda Maples, 5-8 Jr. Alexus Cooper, and 5-10 Jr. Michaela Hunter. Belmont coach Cameron Newbauer countered with 6-1 Jr. Lauren Thompson, 5-11 So. Kylee Smith, 6-3 So. Sally McCabe, 5-5 Fr. Darby Maggard, and 5-11 Fr. Jenny Roy.
Belmont controlled the boards today in a 95-63 victory over Eastern Kentucky. Belmont shot 51.7% from the field including eight of 14 from the three point line. They connected on 25 of 34 free throws, pulled down 54 rebounds, and scored four points off five Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Belmont held a 24-9 advantage on second chance points. Eastern Kentucky shot 38.8% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 10 points off eight Belmont turnovers.
Sally McCabe led Belmont with 23 points including two three point baskets and 10 rebounds. Kylee Smith added 15 points including three three point baskets and six assists. 6-1 Jr. Frankie Joubran recorded 10 points and nine rebounds. Jenny Roy chipped in with 10 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Lauren Thompson added 10 points and five rebounds. 6-0 Fr. Ellie Harmeyer recorded eight points and eight rebounds. 5-9 So. Sierra Jones also scored eight points.
Michaela Hunter led Eastern Kentucky with 16 points including two three point baskets. Jalen O’Bannon added 15 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots. Shameekia Murray recorded 14 points.
