Tates Creek coach Wayne Breeden started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Marcellus Barksdale, 6-0 Jr. Darius Gibson, 6-2 Sr. Todd Bradley, 5-11 Sr. Kendale Mack, and 6-2 Sr. Ryan Fucci. Lafayette coach Greg Coldiron countered with 6-1 Sr. Dee Yarbrough, 5-11 Jr. William Johnson, 6-5 So. Nick Trisko, 5-10 Sr. David Ross, and 5-9 Fr. Charles “Snoop” Johnson.
Tates Creek outscored Lafayette 19-6 in the second quarter on their way to a 63-53 victory. Tates Creek shot 56.4% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line. The Commodores connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 17 Lafayette turnovers. Lafayette shot 42.2% from the field including four of 19 from beyond the arc. The Generals connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored eight points off 13 Tates Creek turnovers.
Ryan Fucci led Tates Creek with 18 points including two three point baskets and dished out five assists. Darius Gibson added 16 points. Gibson was five of five from the field and six of nine from the free throw line. 6-4 So. Braxton McFarland chipped in with 14 points and five rebounds. Marcellus Barksdale recorded 11 points and six rebounds.
Dee Yarbrough led Lafayette with 20 points. Charles “Snoop” Johnson added 10 points including two three point baskets. Jackson Davis pulled down 10 rebounds.
