CPMB has adequate facilities to conduct research in several aspects of biotechnology. Every year, the centre is getting better equipped through additional instruments and facilities. The centre has excellent facilities for plant tissue culture, protein and nucliec acid analysis and plant transformation.
For plant tissue culture, a dedicated media preparation and strilization faciltity, culture facility and growth chamber are available. A large green house and a medium sized screen house are available for growing plants in soil or similar medium.
An FPLC system, HPLC system, Aminoacid analyser and DNA sequencing facility constitute the protein and nucleic acid analysis facility.
A DNA shotgun system (Biolistic) is being used for effective transformation of rice protoplasts and Arabidopsis.
