"Grace," said the Doctor. "I seem to have been sleeping in your bed."

Something has changed. Diverted from their business by a power unknown, the Doctor and Grace find themselves thrown into a quest to find Ulysses - the Doctor's father.

Meanwhile, in nineteenth century France on the distant planet Earth, a lecherous old Time Lord and his human partner are arrested for trying to break into a bank. But why? And just who is the multi-faced man who frequents Madame Falaise's "establishment"?

Meet Mistress Melanie! Hear Daleks lyricise as never before! Gaze upon a strangely familiar drag queen! But amongst all the lunacy, one question hangs clear - can any Doctor emerge unscathed from a universe with such Altered State?

This is another round-robin story featuring the 8th Doctor.
