AEON BATTLES

On your journey through Spira I'm sure you must have encountered a mysterious female summoner, Belgemine. She invites Yuna to fight her using aeons, to see how strong Yuna is, basically. Only Yuna will be in the battle against her aeon, and the only available commands are Summon, Grand Summon and escape. Also, Yuna may not use the same aeon as Belgemine. Before the battle, she will restore Yuna and her aeons to full health. You win if you defeat Belgemine's aeon, and you lose if all of Yuna's aeons are knocked out, or if Yuna's HP reaches 0, or if Yuna escapes.

Battle 1: Ifrit
The first time you meet Belgemine is on the Mi'ihen Highroad. She summons Ifrit, so naturally Yuna will have to summon Valefor. Basically just let Valefor attack and use his Overdrive when his gauge fills, and you shouldn't have any problem. You'll get an Echo Ring for Yuna with the abilities 'HP+10%' and 'Silence Ward' if you win, and if you lose you'll still get a Seeker's Ring (with the ability 'HP+10%' and a blank slot, also for Yuna).

Battle 2: Ixion
This time you meet Belgemine on the road to the southern shore of the Moonflow. She summons Ixion, so you can choose either Valefor or Ifrit. You shouldn't lose either since you actually get to use 2 aeons to fight Ixion. Whether you win or lose, you'll get the Summoner's Soul (which allows you to use items to let your aeons learn magic or skills). In addition, if you win you'll get 2 Dragon Scales, if you lose you'll get 6 Smoke Bombs.

Battle 3: Shiva
The third battle takes place in the central part of the Calm Lands. This time Belgemine summons Shiva. I think if you let 3 aeons (you now have 4, excluding Shiva) get knocked out you'll lose. But this battle still shouldn't be a problem; if you use Bahamut's Megaflare you'll win in one round. Again, whether you win or lose, this time you'll get the Aeon's Soul (which lets you use different spheres to increase your aeons' stats). In addition, if you win, you'll get 30 Power Spheres, if you lose you'll get 30 Speed Spheres.

Thereafter: Various
Thereafter you'll have to go to the Remiem Temple to continue the aeon battles. In order to get there, you'll have to ride a chocobo from the Calm Lands. Go to the southeast corner of the map, and you'll see a small yellow feather near what looks like a broken bridge. Examine the feather (still riding the chocobo) and your chocobo will jump down to a sort of ledge. Continue down the path and you'll reach the Remiem Temple. Inside, you'll find Belgemine, and you'll be able to do battle against all the aeons you have so far. But you must have defeated the aeons at least once before you can challenge the next; for example, if you want to fight Shiva there, you must have defeated Valefor, Ifrit and Ixion there at least once. You can fight each aeon as many times as you please, but after the first time you fight each of them, the prizes will change as follows:

Aeon Prize for winning the first time Prize for winning thereafter

As can be seen from the above table, it is necessary to defeat the Magus Sisters in order to get the Moon Sigil for Yuna's Nirvana. Naturally, you'll need to obtain all three hidden aeons first, so that you can fight them at the Remiem Temple.Al Bhed language primers, and various equipment (it's a bit complicated to explain exactly what).
