We are seeking curators for 3-4 shows at the WAC in 1999 and thereafter.

If Interested, PLEASE SUPPLY:

• A statement about your proposed show (We like to have a theme based on subject matter, technique or media.)
• Selected slides from the artists involved
• A copy of your resume including all related experience

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

• Contacting Artists
• Obtaining bios and slides 6 weeks before the opening
• Getting work to the show, -All work must be ready to hang and labelled
• Putting together invitation (8 weeks prior to show)
• Receptions - Setting up and cleaning up afterward
• Making sure Artists attend Receptions
• Making sure work is picked up on time for the arrival of the next show

• Supplying the Arts Center with a gallery sitter for all the Saturdays during the month that the show runs

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Our shows have a main idea, theme, cohesive idea or style. This will give our shows a name or title for the works. We do show nudity, but not if it is inappropriate, because we do have children's activities throughout the year within our galleries. We prefer to show a 3-4 person show with NJ artists. Our mission is to offer local artists a venue to display and sell their work. There are many fine artists creating in a variety of styles and media. We do have a slide catalog of many local artists and we are currently setting up an on-line catalog for our web-site.

Receptions are on Sunday 1-4pm, usually the second Sunday of the month. At our receptions, we offer light refreshments and a chance to meet the artists.

The Watchung Arts Center has much to offer in the way of Performing arts including Jazz, Folk, Comedy and Diva. We also have a Photography Forum, Life Drawing, and many Children's classes which bring in hundreds of people to our galleries each month.
