Arbor Day

Michigan celebrates Arbor Day on the last Friday in April, this year on April 25. Tree Facts:

One tree is saved for every 4-foot stack of newspapers recycled.

One acre of trees produces enough oxygen for 18 people every day.

It takes 40 gallons of sugar maple sap to make 1 gallon of syrup.

Recycling a ton of paper saves 17 trees and 3 cubic yards of landfill space.

One acre of trees absorbs enough carbon dioxide during a year's time to equal the amount you produce when you drive your car 26,000 miles.

The Michigan state flower is the flower of a tree - the Apple Blossom. The Eastern White Pine is the Michigan state tree.
