As you can see from our logo the band's name is "TERADA" Country consisting of myself Ray Hides,
Geoff Lloyd
and Bob Awcock.pictured above, I am the lead vocalist I play rhythm and some lead, Geoff Lloyd plays lead/rhythm and backup vocals, Bob Awcock plays keyboards harmonica and some vocals.I first met Geoff after moving in next door to him, I then found out that he played guitar so I asked if he would like to pop in one evening and have a jam session which he did and it became a regular weekly get together just for our own pleasure,
a workmate of Geoff's who sang country started to join Geoff and I for our weekly get together.
His name was Colin Clark who had sent a demo to Comstock Records, who sent him songs to try, and by this time Bob had joined us, I had met Bob at work and whilst chatting about music I discovered that he played guitar, harmonica and keyboards so naturally I suggested that he came round one night for a sort of compatability tryout and it worked well,so we backed Colin on his demos. and he later signed up with Comstock, he then moved to Denmark and married a Danish disc jockey, subsequently in late 2000 he recorded a song that I had written titled "Santa"which was put out on a promotional compilation album by Gary Bradshaw on Western Heart Promotions, and being a seasonal song it got lots of airplay up till Xmas, hopefully my first step on the road to a songwriting carrear.
school sports day We slowly built up a repertoire of about 50/60 songs mainly 50s and sixty's, some more up to date. In early 1992 we were asked to do a gig locally which meant that we had to find a name for the band then after due deliberation I suggested "TERADA" which is the name of my guitar, and it is a japanese copy of a
Gibson Humming Bird,
(see picture top right)
so thats how we got our name. Picture left shows the band playing at a school fete for
St John's School Crowborough

Then the Picture on the right shows, left to right Geoff Lloyd----Ray Hides--Bob Awcock this picture was taken by my Daughter Lisa Rudd who emigrated to Australia on the 1st of december 2002 and is doing quite well with her photography out there. Then we continued round pubs and clubs and the odd local fete, then we were asked to do a show for some elderly people in a sheltered accommodation which we enjoyed immensely. It seemed that we enjoyed this type of gig more so whilst still doing pubs and clubs etc. we seemed to orientate more and more to charity work like M.E.N.C.A.P Gateway club and The Good Companion's Club in Tonbridge, and other charity groups working with disabled people. There are three local retirement homes that we have done shows for, namely "Old Mill Court" "Neville House" "High Brooms" and "Cambridge" Lodge in Uckfield. ray@terada.fsnet.co.uk

We find that this type of show is more rewarding although we only charge a few quid for expenses, the odd pub or club helps to pay for the upkeep of equipment etc. Our repertoire is now in excess of 120 songs mainly 50s 60s and70s some modern ones and self penned songs and comedy songs.
