Recently, while roaming about on BBSes, I've spotted an
archive purported to be "Quake 2 source".
Could it be that, once again, someone has managed to get ahold
of id's code and released it to the Mac community in the hopes
that some programmer will make some port (just like last year's
MacQuake hack)?
You're a fighter pilot, blowing up shit and wreaking havoc in
the skies.
Error on MacOS.
Aliens
This one was NOP'ed thanks to intervention by 20th Century
Fox, and all copies were taken off the net (that is, as far as I
know). It is still available thru warez channels (in 2 versions,
one for Macs and one for PCs), and is worth the effort if you are
a fan of Quake and Aliens.
Can't get it to work on my Mac no matter how hard I try.
There's MAPs in a seperate file; do I need these to play, or are
they extras? and do I need to turn them into BSPs?
You're a Special Forces trooper, who must stomp past legions
of ninjas, enemy soldiers and many more to
complete his mission.
Actually, even though this project has been declared finished,
there is only one episode. If you try to play any other episodes,
you just get the normal Quake episodes, albeit with a new
character and new sounds. However, the Special Forces team is
working on additional episodes, and 5 add-on maps are available to
extend the adventure in the meantime. REQUIRES MAC QUAKE 1.08.2 OR
EARLIER to run! For some reason, this will not run with the 1.08.4
upgrade.
Turns Quake into a 2D-ish platform game. Kinda hard to
explain, you have to see for yourself.
Running on my Mac, all I got was the normal 3D game, and I
couldn't even get out of the first room! (Although I could see the
2-dimensionality: I could forwards and backwards, but not left or
right.)
It probably does work on a PC, in which case I'll say "you
lucky bastards!" =)
The so-called "Mac version" does not work. (I think
somebody should clue these guys in about what happens when you try
to store a .sea on a PC....) So, if you have a Mac, just download
the PC version and play it.
A "Doom 1/2" conversion, this brings the old classic to Quake!
Running Doom off the Quake engine is even more awesome than it
sounds!
I got a Hunk_Alloc error after the first level, but I only had
9.6 megs alloted to Quake. Remember, make sure Quake has plenty of
memory when loading extra paks!
The demo from this soon-to-be released pak is already
receiving fantastic reviews from PC gamers. The creators
themselves, Zero Gravity Software, think it is so good that they
are charging for it (estimated retail $24.99). great idea,
guys..... :P
Regardless, you can download the demo off their site and see
for yourself.
