Nicholas D. Wolfwood

While riding to May City (funney how the citys are based on months) on a bus across the desert, Vash and the insurance girls spot a very dehydrated man in the sand by the name of Nick D. Wolfwood. The people were amazed that he was still alive, let alone that he carried a giant cross on his back the whole way. Wolfwood is a priest travelling in the name of an orphanage near December City. He carries a large cross wrapped in cloth, but it's revealed to be a rather portable arsenal of pistols. Also doubles as a shield, seeing how it is the same size as him. Nick sports a black suit, sunglasses, and of course smokes. He has a kindness for children and others in trouble (though he doubts his intentions when it's an attractive woman he's assisting). Aside from his cross, he carries a "portable confessional", which he offers in exchange for money or other favors (such as a ride on a bus. most turn it down :( Though Wolfwood insists that he's a man of the church, he has shown remarkable skill in handling guns and other weapons. His past is not known when he enters the series, but without a doubt there is more to Nick than he would have us know. He allies himself with Vash and Meryl, and is particulary fond of Milly.
