A
scorer. Can stroke it from outside and has a great first step.
Smart ballplayer. Should come in and contribute immediately,
challenge for ROY. Has experience. Good passer. Very fast in the
open floor. Exciting player. Very good size and strength. Ended
Tark's Tournament drought.
Alexander is viewed by many as possibly the best shooting guard
in the Draft, and should not be available past #8 in this Draft.
At 25.3 points per game, Courtney was the nation's leading
scorer, the first player in the history of the Western Athletic
Conference (WAC) to do that. He hit 45.3% of his shots and
roughly a third of his trey attempts. He improved his scoring in
each of his 4 seasons in college (13.9, 14.8, 21.4, 25.3). His
first two seasons he played for the University of Virginia and
sat out 1998 to transfer to Fresno. He can light it up. Dropped
in 43 points on the lowly heads of the UAB Blazers back in
December of '99 and 40 again on San Jose back in March. "He's
probably the best player I've ever coached," said Fresno State
coach Jerry Tarkanian. "He's without question the best wing
player who ever played for me. He has become a leader and more
mature, and I think he will be the best player in the country
this year" |
