This introductory week has students researching
and developing a basis for their study of the haiku.
Using the internet, as well as print resources,
students explore background information on the
haiku in order to create a foundation of knowledge.
Students will explore the history and significance of
the age old form of the haiku in Japanese culture.
Students will be asked to make point form notes
their sources, making sure to include
Then students will begin to storyboard*
their findings in preparation for their PowerPoint presentation.
(This presentation is a culmination of
weeks 1-3 in this mini-unit. Students storyboard
during each week, then create their presentation.)
