 |
| WELCOME
TO YFC! If you're
new, that is. Hopefully within the next few weeks someone will call you to tell you about
meetings, parties, sportsfests, fellowships, concerts and shows that YFC goes to, but in
the meantime, there's an e-mailinglist you can join -- and it's YFC!
BUT FIRST!
READ THESE RULES (Heck ya. But they're fun
rules! hahaha -- oh):
1. You can post anything and everything that you
want in here. In turn, people send out announcements, invites to parties, dances and
shows, prayer requests, sharings, and yes, forwards. Our mailinglist is a freedom forum.
2. There are OUT-OF-STATE YFC in our yahoogroups, so
if you are going to post info you don't want other areas to read about (conference plans,
for example), DON'T post it.
3. With regards to freedom, there's responsibility
with it. Ya, how boring, but it's important to know that there are limits to posting.
These limits are best applied to sending out FORWARDS.
|
YOUR
FORWARDS
Ya, we letchu have your forwards in
here, but only if you follow this one rule -- AND PLEASE FOLLOW IT. Please CLEAN OUT your forwards before sending them. Snip out the headers -- the junk that comes before and after the forward's main message. Don't just click on "forward"-- be mindful of other people's mailboxes! If the moderator notices that you don't clean out your forwards, he'll temporarily suspend your e-mail account from the list. Sorry kids -- just tryin to maintain peace and order. |
|
4. To distinguish YFC Illinois e-mail from the rest of your mail, the group is labelled [yfCHILLtown].
|
WHAT HAPPENED TO yfCHILLcampus?
We eliminated yfCHILLcampus because everything we send to campus was first sent to community anyways, so might as well join the two to make things simpler. :-)
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OTHER GROUPS?
In the beginning, there were questions. The questions were never really answered, so we generated more questions... hehehe, just kidding.
At one point there were as many as four Illinois yahoogroups managed by one person, and the load got too great. We've split up the e-mails so that members get only the emails that pertain to their particular area.
Please contact your nearest leader to join the North/Central list if you live in Chicago or the northern suburbs, the South/Southwest list if your live in the souther suburbs, campus- and high school-based officers if you go to UIC, Loyola, UIUC, St. Ignatius and so on.
The umbrella YFC Illinois group list still remains yfCHILLtown.

5. There are three ways to get your mail: Individual e-mails or in digest form. Let the moderator know how you want to receive your e-mails. With individual e-mails, you get more than one e-mail a day. With the digest form, you only get one e-mail a day. All the individual e-mails are compiled into a massive e-mail for you to read. There is a listing of entries per digest issue. A third option, "No Mail/Web Only," lets you read yfCHILLtown e-mail off the Web, keeping your e-mailboxes clean. But you hafta log in to yahoogroups.com and get your own yahoogroups account.
|
INDIVIDUAL
EMAIL 1. E-mail is
labelled [yfCHILLtown]
2. Several e-mails a day
3. No listing of entries
4. You can download and see attachments (like
pictures)
5. You can see colored settings of someone's e-mail
(colored fonts, stationary, etc)
|
DIGEST ISSUES
EMAIL 1. E-mail is
labelled [yfCHILLtown] "Digest Issue Number ###"
2. One long e-mail a day
3. Listing of entries at the beginning of each issue
4. You can't download and see attachments (like
pictures)
5. Text only; you can't see colored settings |
|
6. All replies for both yahoogroups go to the sender. If you want to reply to everyone and not just the sender, click "reply all." Please use this feature responsibly!
|
REPLYING TO ALL
Not necessarily eveyone has to know your response to topics. Actually, we're trying to get people to start speaking up in the yahoogroups, but just be careful with this feature. |
|
7. Have fun
8. That last rule bears repeating: Have fun! |
mayn... with all the publicity using just this page, yahoogroups should pay me! bwahahahaha... oh --

1. Did you read the rules typed above? This is MUY ImPoRtAnTe, pipol!!! E-mail the WIRED QUEEN (that's W-I-R-E-D, *not* W-I-E-R-D!!!) if you have any more questions.
2. Pick an e-mail address you want to use to get e-mail from YFC. Be sure that it's one you check often because you'll miss out on a lot of info if it's not!
3. You can join only one or all three of these groups. The main yahoogroups for YFC-Illinois is, obviously, yfCHILLtown: It has 155 e-mail addresses and counting.
4. Did you read the rules?
5. Follow yahoogroups' rules on joining.
TAKE A MOMENT... to read the rules.
ALSO... if this button takes you to the main yahoogroups page and it asks you to sign in, EMAIL US instead with the email address you want to use to receive YFC emails. YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A YAHOO EMAIL ADDRESS TO JOIN A YFC-ILLINOIS EMAIL GROUP. Send your request to join to yfcmedia@yahoo.com.

There are several other YFC group
e-mail addresses -- YFC at Hawaii, Vancouver, NorCal, SoCal, Seattle, Dallas, Houston,
Cleveland, Florida, New Jersey, Maryland/Virginia, Toronto, and other areas will most
likely have their own yahoogroups. There are also special yahoogroups created for a specific set of people --
yfcnorthamericaleaders, gatfamily, and yfcmusicministry are three.
Often you'll need permission from the moderators of
these other groups to join. Go ahead, ask them -- it should be fun. |
